What percentage of your wage do put towards motoring?

Combined, the S-Class and the MX-5 currently cost me somewhere around 10-15% of my income in terms of insurance, fuel, tax, maintenance etc.

Quite a lot of money when I think about it... MX-5 is just a toy though so I don't really care. Factor in mods and stuff and things get really silly...

about 8% at the moment , the fuel bill is shared between myself and my gf.

approx £230 a month in fuel doing about 1200 ish miles.

However if im gonna be purchasing the new car soon its gonna be about 17-20% of income

About 25% but most of that is actually paying for the car finance rather than the running costs.

If you take it down to just the running costs then it's about 7 or 8%.

I dont even want to know how much I'm spending. I'd say it is a lot less than what I used to spend within my first 3 or so years of driving.

I highly doubt it'll be more than 15%.

I probably spend about 7% out of my income a month, but due to being self employed that changes as my work day changes

12% give or take, allowing £150 a month for depreciation, realistic running costs, insurance, tax and enough fuel to cover 25k miles a year.

About 70%.

Thats mainly because im a student and not on much £ apart from loans. That covers insurance, etc, fuel, tires and also insurance on my dads car and fuel for that whenever I use it. But park time work does fluctuate so it depends.

Including depreciation and all running costs (petrol, tax, mot, servicing, insurance) I spend 13% of monthly income on the Clio 182.

Year 1 (inc purchase and much fixing and overhauling) - 25%
Year 2 (less fixing and splurging) - Less than 5%

Depreciation is negligable.

in 2009 my car was costing me nearly half of my wages :)

19 years old, passed my test, bought my car, bought the insurance. Drove it from Bristol to Essex nearly twice a month to see the woman, using £60 in petrol each time.

Would I have changed it...............nope

Nowadays my situation hasn't really improved much, prob about 20%, but I don't earn much due to studying.

about 18% - though if you take the Mrs income into account as it's our only car that reduces to about 10% of our joint - Granted that's still quite a lot, but I'm happy to pay it for the moment.
