What size SSD?

As large as possible... so glad I got a 256. Wish I'd got a 512 though because having everything open instantly is awesome. :D

I'd recommend a single 240gb, high end (decent model/make) will be around £300? So going over the pound per gigabyte rule but worth it imho. Going to get a single 240 high end ssd myself next week.

I went for the 240 so I could get all my documents and music on the same drive. Left games and films on my HDD as I don't use them so much.

Entirely dependant upon what you're using it for. If you need lots of space but want a quick boot then get a smaller SSD for the OS and a cheaper, larger 1TB SATA-3 disk for data.

would a 64gb one hold windows autoCAD and office?

Yes.

Just had a look at AutoCAD website and it says it needs 2GB for it, office aint that big either at 3.5GB-4GB for 2010 professional, Windows could be upto 20GB depending on version.

I personally have windows and office, plus things like adobe reader and what not on a 32gb SSD :)

I still have 13gb free.

I have 2 other hdd's running Raid 0 for good performance too for everything else.

So you could get by with just a 64.

Just remember that A) you're not going to get the full space due to the file system used, and B) that Windows takes up a fair whack not including updates.

Win 7 clean install requires between 16-20GB for x32 and x64 respectively.

Best advice has already been given - get what you can afford. 64GB should suffice.
