What software to use for CPU temp test

I meant for testing if the overclock was stable :)

Could do with some info as I'm pretty new to overclocking. I have read the stickys and I understand a but more now and I'm looking to overclock my 4690k

By how much should I keep increasing the CPU clock ratio? Do I need to mess with the CPU ring ratio or any other values or should I just be the CPU ratio and Vcore? Should I have the ram set to 1333mhz whilst overclocking

I used Intel Burn Test to check my CPU stability. The clock ratio is up to you. I've just changed my Vcore and left the motherboard to do the rest and it's been stable as a rock at 4.4GHz since I got my new cooler. Temperatures are nice and low!

prime 95 or ibt or asus realbench

sorry I thought you meant temp monitoring software not stress testing

How should I increase the CPU multiplier? Should I start it on 38 and then go from there? Should I stress test on IBT for 10 minutes each time and then increase vCore voltage if needed ?

I agreed with myself that 4.2GHz was a good OC so I started with that then increased the vcore until it was stable, then added a fraction more vcore to ensure that it was completely stable as there's nothing more annoying than a lock-up during gaming!

Just loop Asus Realbench. Prime, IBT, Linx, Aida 64, OCCP and others all use AVX coding which really hammer Haswell and will not give you a true idea of temps. AVX can also force Haswell to draw a extra 0.1v if using adaptive or offset voltages.

Any advice on what I should do with the ring voltage? Should I just leave it at default

I've just gone up to 4ghz on 1.145 testing on real bench now how long should I give it for each test

The only one I would recommend is RealBench but ultimately I encode in Handbrake and game at the same time to give me 'real' load.

Well I've just tested for about 10 mins on realbench at 4Ghz 1.145V didn't mess with anything else and I didn't get any errors or anything

Should I try 4.2GHz now and increase Vcore if needed

I'm still confused as to what the ring ratio should be on I've left it on default for now

temps were decent to

This was 1.145vcore 4.2GHz - Running realbench for about 10 mins

Does everything look ok

Temps were good to

My cores seem to be at 4.2GHz all the time - Why is this

Can some one check this for me please

4.4GHz 1.220Vcore - I ran RealBench for 15 mins with no issues

Look for Intel Speedstep (if I remember correctly!) in the BIOS and turn it on so it downclocks the CPU speed when it's not needed and speeds it up as required.

I tested stability with mine by running Intel Burn Test a couple of times then left RealBench running for 8 hours over night/at work and prayed that I never came back to a login screen!

I've not touched my ring ratio and mines runs perfectly!
