What the heck are these for?

Phone masts. Getting ready for 4G.

According to the company i did some summer work for, there are no 4G masts in the UK as of yet. But when they start going up they will look like the current 3G masts but won't need the equipment cab's because it will all be located underground.

So the mast in question is a 3G mast. The small cab holds equipment for Tmobile and Orange (i think), and the larger cab holds the other companies...
Or was it the other way :p either way..

-edit-
You probably never noticed it before because they were all grey, but many councils are painting them green to make them "blend in".
Trouble is, i find familiarity to be the best disguise, i never noticed them as grey but now i see them everywhere because its different.

More like 1G, they've been around for ages.

Make the place look ugly as usual. Someone say 1G?

Far too much of this crap happening.

Our towns are literally metal tree forests.

Its a total mess when you actually step back and look at how the councils have wrecked the towns and town centres.

indeed and they get £55k I believe for each mast erected from the network operator. Well that is what a local farmer told me he was offered some years ago by 02 to put one up in one of his fields.
