What to do? (ebay again)

Maybe. But is it worth the hassle of arguing with him about it for the sake of a quid? If you do a lot of buying and selling on eBay a decent feedback percentage will make you more than a quid in the future.

First things first, you should have just contacted the seller before leaving feedback to get a refund.

About the £5 P&P. It's certainly annoying when sellers put unrealistic postage prices for items. Most the time they will just recieve the same amount of money because buyers look at the postage and bid less.

This uncertain area of £6 and whether that's for postage or item raises a point: either the money is for postage OR it's for the item.

You can either expect a £5 wallet and expect to recieve £1 to send it back OR expect a £1 wallet and get the fiver to send it back - not both!

But despite that, you expect a wallet to perform a simple task for whatever price.

aye yeah but if i refuse to send it back, is there anything he can do about it such as report me for some reason

(edit - i know its only 6 quid and thats absolutly sod all -unless your about 10 years old- but i'd rather like to keep my ebay account looking good)

Then you really should start to think about communicating with your trading partners, otherwise your feedback is going to be seriously affected. I know it's horrible when you pay for something and it turns out to be faulty, but (in the majority of cases) the seller can't be blamed for the product going bad. What he/she can be blamed for though is if they are unhelpful in the event of a problem such as yours. In short, give your trading partners the opportunity to make things right before you jump straight in with -fb, most of them will be happy to oblige. If they aren't helpful, then neg them.

Jesus listen to yourself... Stop being so petty and send it back- he's giving you a refund. You say you want a clean ebay account, well then send it back and sort it amickably. You can't have everything your way you know.

customer is always right

from personnal experience that is not that case and from feedback ' a neg left is a neg recieved' is the general idea

My personal experience is the opposite, but then I actually communicate with people and try to resolve things sensibly.

And the customer is most certainly NOT always right, if they act like a brat then they should be handled like a brat.

umm yeah

as for bratish, the item was damaged and not as described therefore not as it was stated to be and i was not happy with that therefore a neg was deserved for selling rubbish good claming then to be quality goods so no matter how god custmer service was, he wouldnt have got a positive feedback

i just didnt want the hassle and had fulfilled my part of the deal by paying for it therefore all should be fine i thinks).

Do you not see that there is a flipside to that point though? Your seller, as far as he was aware, had fulfilled his part of the deal too as he had supplied you with the item. He had no way of knowing that you had a problem with the product.......and that's because you didn't tell him. You flew straight in with a negative regardless, and I feel that you were fairly negged back as a non-communicator.
This may sound harsh but people like you really do make life harder than it needs to be on eBay. By not wanting the "hassle", you have created a whole lot of it.

You're a bit of an idiot :p

You should never leave feedback without giving the seller the opportunity to rectify the situation and I would be extremely angry if i was the seller.

Secondly the item is worth £0.99, the postage is irrelevant and you can't expect a refund of the postage as it won't cost you that much to send it back. Postage and packing includes other expenses the seller incurs. He may live far from a Post Office or use expensive packaging. If you think it's excessive then inform eBay.

And you must send the wallet back. If you keep it, it's theft.

Sounds like you need to take a step back and put yourself in the shoes of the seller before jumping in with feedback and forum threads.

my feedback 99.4% positive, only due to some incompetent sellers that its not 100%

Sorry mate, but that is untrue. Your feedback has taken a hit due to your own incompetance, all you had to do was contact the seller and ask him to rectify the problem. You didn't want the "hassle" of doing that, so you now have a neg. I would say it's a lesson learned, and you'd be a fool to yourself if you refuse to see that.

No no no, a neg would have been deserved had the seller not rectified the situation. As you didn't even take the time to inform him that there was a problem then how could he do that?
You left unfair negative feedback, and got fair negative feedback in return.

Was there a point to this thread.

You bought an item for 99p - it was not up to 'standard' - you left negative feedback without contacting the seller.

Did you not think before bidding that the p&p was high and that for 99p what did you expect?

This person is trying to I presume make a living of ebay so thats probably why the p&p is imo inflated. If the p&p is high dont bid.

Solution

Adjust your interpretation of the expected quality of a wallet that cost 99p. You also admit that you can glue it and it functions. So wheres the problem?
Send the wallet back as the guy has tried his best to remedy a bad situation.
Learn from the experience.
