What to do? (ebay again)

Sorry to say it, but buyers like you are almost as bad as the dodgy sellers on Ebay.

You bought a wallet at 99p ( you knew the postage cost) & expected a top class product.

You then failed to take 30seconds out to mail the guy when you were not happy with the Item - Even though the seller took the time to label/package and post the product (and probably made very little profit on it)

You then left him negative feedback, possibly damaging his ability to sell things in future, and causing him to waste more time sorting out your misconseptions about a 99p bargain wallet.

Come on, what did you expect for that money - A 5 year guarentee with it ?

Ebay threads are allowed.

Not according to the rules they're not! Maybe you should read the FAQ.

No promotion of OcUK's competitors
OcUK are happy to provide the resources of these forums to responsible individuals without charge. They cost a substantial amount of money to maintain and use considerable amounts of bandwith which is paid for exclusively by OcUK. As you know OcUK are in the computer hardware business and therefore the promotion of OcUK's competitors is forbidden. Examples of promotion are :-
Posting links to competitors websites
Posting links to reviews that promote competitors
Quoting the names or contact details of competitors
Offering to provide the names or contact details of competitors
Using the forums to notify a member of intent or actual supply of names or contact details of competitors
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in signatures
Listing competitors names, URL's or e-mail addresses in profile
Posting links to or the mentioning of auction sites
Disguising attempts to do any of the above

DO IT ON EBAY YOU ****, NOT HERE!!!!!

How many ebay threads per page will the dons allow then? even though they are supposedly not allowed....

[Edit] Auction threads are a lot more interesting than some of the pointless rubbish threads people post on here! Plus it may help others out who read this.

To the OP Just send it back 1st class signed for, it shouldn't cost anywhere near what you paid, and treat it as a learning curve.

I strongly suggest you put the 99p Wallet in an envelope. Pop to the post office and pay what will probably be no more than £1 Postage to send the item back. Thats £1.99 at the most (unless the wallet is full)
If you don't send the item back then that is just plain wrong.. He may suspect you were fibbing and are lovin' this new wallet

Regarding postage, sellers can charge what ever they want. Some are known to put a low 'buy it now' price but slightly increase postage costs. Bottom line it's all there on the ebay page before hand so you decide.

Im also getting fed up with the constant Ebay threads......they are getting almost as common as the TV reminder threads were (before they were really banned)

Surely if you have an Ebay problem, or you need help on how to use Ebay and how it works......the logical place to look would be the 13 Ebay Forums on the Ebay site (in the Discussion Group Section) -

Each of the forums hold many thousands upon thousands of posts / messages on Ebay / Paypal related stuff funnily enough......and you even get helpful responses if you take the time out to ask a question.....

Interesting and helpful maybe; allowed, NO.

Discuss your auction problems/questions within the auction site, where everyone is talking about similar things and in my experience, very helpful.
Or even do it via email/messenger.

If not, why does the auction site run its own forum then? is that just to use up spare bandwidth?

More than a dozen threads in the last three days ...... yeah, we all read the FAQ then.

I assume they are allowed because mods have posted in them in the past. The rule in the FAQ is only re competitors I think.

Having said that, I wouldn't complain if it was decided to ban ebay threads.

As I understood it that only refers to when in direct competetion with OcUK, i.e. linking or talking about an ebay auction for a computer item, not a link for a general item or disscussion

I think we need clarification on what the rule actually means, as there has always been Ebay related threads - and there is very little - if nothing done about them on here (much the same as the bumping that goes on in the For Sale forum) - but thats another story.

Show everybody where in the FAQ it says eBay threads are not allowed, then we'll start believing you.

Please tell me your ebay username so I can add you to my blocked bidders list

for truth!

if i bought something crap from an ebay seller i'd at least contact them and see what they could do about it!

in this case i would have definately not left negative feedback i would have contacted the seller and said

"i'm not happy with the quality of this, its not what i was expecting after the advert in the auction, can we do something about this?"

wait for reply, now it could go 2 ways...

way 1. "sure thing mate, sorry its not what you were expecting, mail it back to me and i'll sort you out with a refund on it"

way 2. "you saw the auction and bid on it mate, tough luck"

if it turned out way 1, then i would have left a good positive feedback, because he's showing that he's very willing to sort out the situation

if it was way 2 then yeh, negative is in order.

but to just give negative feedback without any contact, thats just dumb and really infuriating!!!

I think the rules are pretty clear - but just to clarify, these threads are allowed as long as:

It's not linked to a competitor seller on ebay or is linking to an item that OcUK sells.

It's pretty obvious really.
