In case you've not seen them, and depending on your preference, these slightly less high-profile shows are great IMO:
The Get Down (Netflix)
Hell on Wheels (Prime)
Brassic (NowTV)
Barry (NowTV)
Happy (Netflix)
Might have been me - I did rave about it when I saw itBarry is superb. I saw someone on here post about it and so glad i did. Maybe it was one of yours!
Kingdom. Really good series 1 and 2, what the hell happened with the writing in season 3? Utter garbage and had to s to p watching half way through. Not surprised it got cancelled!
Oh no, the antiwoke-police are here guys, scarper! There will be a Royal family film where they are all black out next huh?
Just finished S3 and I thought it was okay, I'd maybe even go so far as saying it was good. The event at the end of S03E09 was a little... odd tbh, but okay. What I did like, they did the fights well. I'm not an MMA fan. I don't watch MMA, but I feel they did a good job of portraying the fights without making it cheesy. There was no... erm, I don't know... special move a fighter would learn and pull out when he was about to lose. There was no BS 'win it for {insert character name here}!' type crap. They just went in and battered each other and someone won...
What was the rogue trainer all about? I thought he perhaps had some plan of some kind, but we never hear of one. He just tries to steal Ryan I guess and at the last minute Ryan tells him to do one.
Another vote for Hell on Wheels here, great story and casting, doesn't really drag at any point and was a solid watch.
2 episodes into Sweet Home after reading the reviews here:
I watched Alive and Kingdom recently and enjoyed these, but not really feeling it with Sweet Home, the CGI is very bad and not feeling the Res Evil vibe. Does it get better?
- Res Evil inspired
- Walking Dead with monsters
Are you talking about Bridgerton? It is hardly aiming for historical accuracy, and I enjoy the fact that there is almost no reference to race, people are just people. There will be a Royal family film where they are all black out next huh?
Has anyone seen homecoming?
Just seen the first 2 episodes, so about 45-50 minutes of content, but it seems awfully slow to get going.
Julia Roberts is a great actress, and I'm sure this far along in her career that she wouldn't pick up on a show that's likely to flop.
I just haven't yet had the feeling that there's some big story behind it yet.
I just started it as well and thought the same. Just finished episode 3 which finally hints at something a tad interesting but I'm undecided whether to stick with it at present.
It has been so slow that on the second episode I nodded off after a few minutes, gave up and took a nap instead!
Edit: have stuck with it and it does pick up a bit more from episode 4. A couple of funny bits in ep 5 too
I just finished season 1 this morning. It did pick up and gave just enough intrigue in each episode for me to continue watching. Like you said though, if it was 45 min episodes I probably wouldn't have bothered. There are certain bits I found annoying like the sound change when Julia Roberts is using her headphones for phone callsThanks @secretspy was starting to think it must be so bad that no one else watches it.
I'll give episode 3 a go. I guess one thing that has helped is that these aren't 40-45min episodes, as I'd have probably ditched it by now!
I wouldnt really describe it as walking dead with monsters, I was one who said it had a res evil vibe though which I feel it does. In so much as some of the monster designs seem very Res Evil inspired. I thought it was excellent throughout (I also liked Alive, Train to Busan and Kingdom) however if you arent feeling it after 2 episodes then maybe its not one for you, I'd say give it another episode and if you still arent feeling it then knock it on the head.
I'm hoping for a second season, the chances are good as Sweet Home made it into the Top 10 tv shows in the US, so its definitely got the ratings for a 2nd season.
