What TV shows are you currently watching

I was hooked to an extent but anything to do with Chuck I found frustrating to the point of taking a break from it for a few years :(
I found Chuck to be a bit of a pain, too. Though, he is central to the plot and after a time, I began to enjoy the role he played. Not at first, though.

anyone here watched the americans ? 2 russian spys living in America
Yep, when it first came out years ago. It's quite good to start with, unique concept, quite violent iirc. Watched the 1st 3 seasons, can't recall why I got bored of it as it was so long ago. Hard to say more without spoiling it!

One of those shows where it is difficult to keep up the impact of the premise once the novelty wears off and they are limited in what they can do by the realistic real world circumstances. I really enjoyed the first season but it just didn't grab me the same after that - can't remember at what point I stopped watching it.

Half way through Beef. It's alright, will finish it. Feels like a fresh concept and has some quite funny bits, don't really see what all the fuss is about though. It's not very diverse, nobody in my neighbourhood looked like any of those people when I grew up. There was a ginger but we killed him before he was 10.

Yep, I rate it in my top 3 shows ever watched. So well written, such a good story and a great ending. I have only seen it through once, I think it might slow in the middle a little, but also a couple of the best episodes of TV I've ever watched, one in S3 I think, I will prob remember forever.

I watched season 1 but as said by someone else, once the novelty has worn off, it's fairly by the numbers and restrictive story telling. As such I felt little urge to watch the other seasons. With that said, the performances from the main leads were all good enough - just not a lot of depth there overall.

Id highly recommend watching the other seasons, its one of the best shows I've seen. S1 takes a while to get moving but gets better towards the end and into S2 where the more overarching story develops. S5 is a bit slow but I don't think there is actually a bad one, the last season and ending are incredible.

I also remember watching the first few seasons of The Americans, but the reason I stopped watching it was that the Freeview channel it had been airing on (ITV?) lost the rights to show it and as I wasn't interested in paying a subscription to watch it elsewhere that was the end of that.

I'll try and revisit, there is such an abundance of good TV around I find it hard to carry on with a show that didn't initially grab me, even if the consensus is strong.

Watched Netflix How to become a Tyrant.

its a documentary about how evil dictators come to power

loved it be because it appeals to my dark side and it was damn interesting

I know what you mean, a few shows I've stopped watching which I may have ended up liking, usually when a show I'm in the middle of starts up again. Yellowstone is one I'm hesitating on trying again, after struggling first time around.

Yellowstone does peak around S2/S3 so similar recommendation as you've given me with Americans :D

just finished Firefly. I wonder if it had been hyped to a point that I was never going to think it was great? It was good, but I wouldn't go any further than that. Very low budget, it almost reminded me of Red Dwarf S1. I know the 'íncorrect order' gets blamed for it not succeeding. Personally, I can't believe that. I don't feel that initial intro ep was really that important. After that, you could kind of watch them in any order really tbh.

Unpopular opinion from someone who watched it when it originally aired, it was never amazing to start with, it lives on through a vocal internet fandom in echo chambers and rose tinted specs. I've revisited since to see if I missed anything, nope, still average.

Yes it was unfairly cancelled before it really took off and probably deserved another season but as you say, it was good, never great.

I really enjoyed watching Firefly, Out of Gas is one the best episodes of a tv show that I've seen. The Serenity movie was really good also, epic space battle. Probably a bit dated now.

The Nurse (Netflix) - 4 parts.

I'm only as far as the second episode, but I'm quite enjoying it.

I'm assuming that it's dubbed (haven't yet checked), but considering that I normally dislike dubbing and would rather use subtitles instead,
I'm surprised by how good the effort is that has been made.

Just watching Citadel at the moment, starts well, too early to say beyond that. So far feels like a weird mash of James Bond with Westworld vibes.

Firefly I think its charm is the stand out characters and easy watching - it is rarely great but easy to just switch off and enjoy. Some people get it some don't.

EDIT: Though saying that there are some epic moments.
