What upgrades to do on my MTB

Best bash rings are Blackspire's tbh, MRP's are also good, but tbh you're probably not going to be riding hardcore enough to need one, you'll just endup adding weight and losing gears.

(and you'd want a four bolt one).

Thanks
Any ideas on the rear shock question above

190mm is the eyelet to eyelet distance.

The stroke is the amount the shock moves. NOT the amount of travel (amount the wheel moves)

I don't see why you would need a bash ring for an XC bike unless you ride a lot of very rocky trails.

The xm719 rims are good (old X518's IIRC???) The wheels would be the first thing I would upgrade and the most noticable of gains, I.E. weight, acceleration, toughness.

Another idea is that my mate has told me "I know a friend selling a Fox Rear Shock for £100" and "I know it's not too worn".
Have told him that I definately want to know which Fox Rear Shock it is and whether it's had a hard life.
If I do deciede to upgrade the rear shock, what could I sell the Manitou Swinger 4 way rear shock for?
TY
Ed
Ruled out this idea now as it's had a rather hard life and only has 100mm travel

I use these, it means I can use the bike to go down the shop and for some serious riding.

I have these, they are ok but the flat side is very slippery and more than half the time when i start to pedal i get the wrong side on my flat shoes. Got soo annoyed i put some Flats with Terror pins on mine and haven't looked back since.

I've now decided on upgrading wheels and hubs soon(ish) and also possibly the mech's.

I've been recommended by some mates that I get a XTR rear mech and a XTR front mech (they also mentioned something about SRAM sp? carbon).
So I've been looking around CRC but have been confused by the number of front & rear XTR mech's.
What I'm after is keeping with the current 3-speed front and 9-speed rear set-up. Faster changes would be appreciated and also I've had a small problem where the chain comes off the front quite often, so I'd like to prevent that (but I've been told that chain tensioners as well as better front mech should fix that).
A problem I've been having is that (attempts to explain it) quite often to get back into #2 on the front, I will have to hold the levers at about 2.5 for a while to get it to change up, otherwise firing straight up to #2 is useless as it stays in #1 making annoying clicking noises.

As always I'm looking for weight saving as well as blingness.

[n00b] If possible I would like to keep the current quickfire shifters as they seem ok.

The XTR Rear Mech's I've found are:
XTR R-Mech Rapid Rise M960
XTR R-Mech M952

The XTR Front Mech's I've found are:
XTR F-Mech Top Swing M960
XTR F-Mech Top Swing 9sp M952
XTR F-Mech E-Type BB Mount M960
XTR F-Mech Conventional M961
XTR F-Mech Conventional 9sp M953

I'd value your input into which (if any) of these is any good.

Current Drivetrain is:
Deore XT rear mech
LX front mech
LX Shifters
XT 11-34t Cassette
XTR Chain

Your chain could be stretched, check it by using a metal ruler, 12 links should be 12 inches, replace the chain if its more.

To use SRAM rear mech such as the X-0 you need a SRAM shifters, they work 1:1 ratio where Shimanos work at 2:1. MBR did a review of entire Shimano group set against SRAM and they prefer Shimano's. I personally don't think XTR is worth the cash, it's a lot of money for tiny bit of performance gain, save the cash for some better rims and tires.

Tbh, I'd wait for the new xtr kit to be released, then you either get the new stuff, or get the old stuff which should come down in price. You can use a sram front mech, but you'd need new shifters to use a rear one.

The SRAM X0 mech is meant to be better than XTR (MBUK). The new shimano stuff is due at the end of the month. (you can get some 2007 Shimano stuff now on that auction site) But TBH I would stick with your current XT.

The SRAM Attack / Rocket shifters are slightly better than LX.

TBH That's what I was thinking, just that my mates were saying XTR mechs etc. - Their just jealous of my ride compared with theirs and waiting to buy bits off me :p
