What was the first online multiplayer game you played?

There was a Mechwarrior game called BattleTech and I think it was only available through AOL at the time? Either that or AOL charged me more money to play it (im not sure)

Online? Legends of Kesmai

Kingpin: Life of crime on dial-up.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the game that finally prompted me to pay up for an ADSL connection.

Age of Empires 2 on Microsoft Zone (i think). Played it a lot on my 56k dial up and it lagged. Great fun, really enjoyed the custom maps. Never got the same fun from custom maps ever again for some odd reason.

Hmmm, I think it was vanilla Quake on the Physics Dept's computers at Glasgow Uni back in 1996!

But it could have been one of the multiplayer txt adventure things! MUDs or something they were callled :p

Quake, probably.

Also, I think it was called, "Air Attack" -- a free arcade-style dogfighter which was run/hosted by Wireplay. Anyone remember that one?

Oh my I remember Air Attack, it game on a PC Gamer disk, I never played it online as it was before I really understood online gaming but used to mess around on it loads on the kinda practice mode or whatever it did out of the box. Used to take it in turns with friends seeing if we could land or do certain things.. :p

My first online multiplayer game must have been Age of Empires 1 or Mechcommander Gold, one of those. One the old Zone!!
