Congratulations!an early xmas present to myself
Chisholm hunter had it on the bracelet today at £860
How do you all insure your watches? Just a case of popping it on the home insurance or is there a better way?
I have my Bremont on there but this is for the mrs Rolex which we haven't had valued yet but I expect it to be considerably more.Mine's named on the home insurance.
Mine are on the home insurance, not physically listed because they fall under the £2.5K value of the chosen insurer, some need you to list items over £1k (wonder how many people think of their pc's etc...especially with current gpu prices), which to be honest could turn into a bit of a pain. How do you all insure your watches? After trying it on at an AD the other day, I'm thrilled to say that I'm now the proud owner of a SpeedmasterFinally in a position to buy a Speedmaster. I'm crossing my fingers that I like it as much on the wrist!
Where would you go to sell a Omega Seamaster from 2001 and a Rolex Submariner from 2008?
Prefer my g-shock to be honest. Enjoyed having them for the time I have, but my interests have changed.
If you'll likely end up with both, like you say, think about things in a slightly different way.Looking at buying my first German watch with a roughly £1k budget. I've had my eye on both the Nomos Tangente 35 and Sinn 556i for a few years now.
Both serve different purposes - Nomos is very dressy with in house movement whereas the Sinn is an everyday tool watch.
I've seen both in the flesh but never tried them on. The Nomos can currently be had for £1,045 and the Sinn (red secondhand, fine link bracelet) for £1,147.
Any thoughts on which is the better choice from the two? I'll probably eventually end up with both!
My other watches include BB58 and a Seiko Alpinist. I don't have a white dial watch yet.
Thanks.

What watch are you more likely to make use of?
Would the sinn be ignored due to the bb58?
How often do you 'dress up' for a dress watch like the nomos? Although to be honest I'd say the nomos isn't a 'dress' watch in the strictest sense.
Is either of them likely to be discontinued in the near future?
Also as a little side thought, seeing as you're after German and you like the Bauhaus design of the nomos, have you looked at Junghans?
I'd say that makes the decision relatively easy imo.... stop babying the bb58 as much and buy the nomos/junghansThe Max Bill is a good shout and a nice looking piece.
In terms of the other two - I'd likely wear the Sinn the most. The BB58 is a high end (to me) watch that I still baby. I do also dress up reasonably frequently for work functions which is definitely Nomos (or Junghans) territory.
The Nomos is currently heavily discounted from Jura (not my preferred place to buy from!) whereas I've never seen the Sinn on offer anywhere, over and above the standard 10% discount that is easily achievable.

I think you've just about convinced me I don't need the Sinn (yet!).I'd say that makes the decision relatively easy imo.... stop babying the bb58 as much and buy the nomos/junghans
Let me throw in Stowa as well then, they do a lot of designs similar to nomos but can be a bit more affordable (usually due to the movement being selitta, rather than in house) in some cases.I think you've just about convinced me I don't need the Sinn (yet!).
I've had my eye on Nomos for a few years but then I've never really looked at Junghans before. They do offer a lot for the money. They also have a long and interesting history.
Looking for a no-date complication which narrows things down quite a lot. Just need to work out which design I prefer the most from the rest.
In all honesty, I'd say this is one of those times where you need to try it on for size, the 'full face' design of junghans and nomos make them wear slightly different to their actual sizes.... mind you I know I could never wear a 34mm watch, it would just look tiny on my 8inch wrist, so I'm guessing you've got a 'larger' wrist for not wanting smaller than 38mm.I would actually prefer the manual wind but I think 34mm is just going to be too small. 38mm is the sweet spot. .
