What watch do you wear?

Hah, truth be told, nothing in my collection is ripe for being sold really as I like them all. The collection can only grow, not shrink!

strangely enough got my sm57 on today :) need to change the date

Don't like the Panda BB, do like the BB Pro though, but with the hybrid strap, not the bracelet. At 2800 it's a great price too. Not had a GMT yet...

Good shout actually, distinctly a watch made for non-bracelet. Part of my issue with the current collection is they are always a bit annoying on a bracelet for active scenarios.

BLNR! Do like those and would have got myself a Steinhart at one point only if they did a 36-38mm one but at the time I saw nothing sadly.

In other news, Jörg Schauer has left Stowa to exclusively and personally handle his own brand of old, Schauer Watches. As a result of this the Stowa site has seen a 25% increase in prices across the board it seems. My Bronze Vintage 36 is now 1470 Euros, I paid 1100 Euros for it this time last year. It was rumoured a while back that prices will be going up as Stowa had been releasing new watch models and things were stirring it seemed after the Tempus Group acquisition. This explains that I guess and glad I got mine when I did, but now that Jörg has left, I have no desire to buy another Stowa. He revitalised the brand by himself and now it's become part of a Germany's version of Swatch it seems. Hopefully drives used values up now too for the "Jörg era" models like mine :p

Yup a nice strap just makes watches like that look much classier IMO and multi-task ready. A bracelet just can't cover all bases no matter how good it is. I will pop down and take a look at one next chance I get I think and go from there.

Hmm, small chance but it's all a bit coincidental, the very week he announces departure, the prices go up!

Problem with 'smaller' brands upping prices is that they start putting their products into the price range of 'bigger' brands.

If stowa (antea rather than fliger) goes up too much they start getting close to nomos for example and out of the two I'd pick nomos.

I've been looking at grabbing a gmt style watch and a white c63 sealander gmt from Christopher Ward has been tempting me but if it goes above £1000 I start thinking, maybe I should just save a bit more for when the new logines gmt's go on sale (you can already get 10%+ off)... also it's kind of ironic that CW seem to always have £100 off and now increasing prices... why not just stop the £100 discounts lol.

Hmm I wouldn't muddle small brand with lack of quality or credibility because of pricing! Nomos are a recent brand in watch terms where as Stowa have been around since 1927. If anything you'd expect Nomos watches to be cheaper than Stowa all things considered. I've owned a Nomos before too and it cost £2800, then when I got a Tudor around the same price, I wasn't seeing where that Nomos price was being applied in terms of watch case finishing or attention to detail over the Pelagos.

It is relative I guess though. But to my eyes having had both, the Stowa attention to detail inside and out of the case is just higher than Nomos in the current models in Top grade options.

Could that change going forwards now? Maybe. Tempus group might go the Swatch route and opt to release new watches that are "safe" and appeal to the masses more rather than a set loyal customer base like has been all this time.

It will be interesting to watch I think. I figure Laco are sitting back potentially rubbing their hands as a bunch of Stowa fans haul over to them in future if that does happen.

Stowa was on the brink at one point and Jorg bought the trademarks and brought the brand back, so do have to wonder how Tempus will carry on that path, or if they even will now since he's gone. Are Tempus more focused on sales figures, or is it about the watches and those who appreciate them the most.... Can it be both? From the Swiss side of things it does seem to be one or the other in recent years.

Hadn't heard of Tempus Arte but at a glance I can't see any reason to be upset or worried? Looking at the other brands they own seems a bit of a stretch to compare them to Swatch.

Indeed, although have Nomos prices increased by a similar amount over the years? ~£600 (60%) difference currently for similar model with glass caseback. When I bought my Antea KS several years back (second hand) iirc they were <800eur new and I think the Tangente was probably at least double that.
