What watch do you wear?

Did you get a discount from the jewelers?

I'm in the market for a new watch and just wondering what sort of discount can be had from these shops on a £300 watch

I didn't try it to be honest. I know online mostly it was £295 as well so I didn't expect them to budge on it. I suppose I could have said I'd seen it elsewhere in town that day for the same price which I had but I have no idea if they would have done me a deal. I was silly for not asking I guess.

Grumble grumble...

My Nite MX10 isnt so waterproof after all, the dial has developed some heavy condensation in the past week and only getting worse, looking at a 4 week turnaround on warranty, no clear idea as to where the seal has broken, but i'm not best amused, however i suppose it has put up with some stick over the last year, with the extremes of afghan summer heat and dust, to deepest darkest otterburn winter cold snow and ice and everything in between, but still i expected better, oh well i guess it has to go back, but got to put up with it for another 2 weeks whilst i'm stuck in london.

If anything would have done it, it would have been the temperature. One of my other watches that is waterproof turned out to not be waterproof, apparently this was because I wore it in the shower. I don't know how true this is or if it is just a way for the company to get out of shelling out themselves.

I'm looking for some advice/help on a new watch purchase please.
What are the OcUK watch experts thoughts before I press the button?

My trusty Citizen has taken a thorough battering to the glass, and I've been quoted about £70 to get it replaced since apparently it has to go back to Citizen themselves. Since I only paid £100 for the watch, I'm a bit loathe to do that, and am therefore contemplating just replacing it outright.

It's one of these:

I quite like something minimal and understated but sleek, so any suggestions in here for £100-150 ish?

Oh, it's worth mentioning I have small wrists, so tend to avoid huge watches since they're daft on me!

Thanks :)[/QUOTE]

260 seems like a lot for it - possibly because if the alarm? If you don't need alarm then there should be something similar at more like 150 e.g some Casio edifices.

Amleto - Thanks but I'm confused. All the series on the Seiko website seem to be names, what is the "5" range? Sorry if I'm being thick!

EDIT: Oh, and worth mentioning that I've decided I'm not spending any amount of money on a watch without sapphire glass, getting rid of scratches is too pricey to bother with non-sapphire!

It's their range of automatic watches:

Someone at the gym had a really cool watch, I was wondering if anyone could help me find it, it looked like a digital casio, but was really big and white and chunky. Anyone know which I'm talking about? Sorry about being so vague!

Quite a few nice watches in the Seiko 5 range, thanks for the pointers! Going to use them as a datum and have a browse at other offerings to see how they compare (although I really like the fact that the Seiko's seem to nearly all have sapphire glass).

How does the Hardlex glass do? I'm aware it's a midway point between mineral and sapphire, but is it worth a damn in reality?

Found these 3 candidates, I'd be interested in opinions on them please.

Such a nice looking watch for the price and I personally can't understand how people opt for paying £100-200 for a quartz fashion watch when they can get something from the Seiko 5 range.
