What watch do you wear?

I don't think I've got anything that even gets close to fitting in the screwhead sadly. My brother has some tools knocking about, if he doesn't have one small enough I'll see what I can pick up.

What are your guys thoughts on these? im after a "holiday" watch, so not at all dressy, but still one of the big brands. Something on rubber would perhaps be nice / titanium also. A good depth rating would also be nice, but not top of the list.

Bretling B50 - kinda different, and has some smart functions apparently. Thermo compensated quartz is cool in a geek kinda way.

Blue Pelagos - had one previously and liked it. the splash of colour is nice.

So what am i missing? im not familiar with JLC, maybe Hublot, IWC, AP? Would have to be 2nd hand, but that doesnt put me off.

Why do you need a good depth rating? You would never take a decent watch diving, anyway. It's needless box checking.

Personally, I find the Breitling too busy. The Tudor is nice but possibly a little too blue.

Yeah, diving is out; but I always figure that 100m is a bare minimum. Ive always read that something with low depth rating can be overcome by jumping in a pool - i.e. non-laboratory usage. Dont know if thats ********, but wanted something a little more over engineered etc.

I dont mind the colour at all. as i mentioned its a holiday watch, not somethign im wearing at the office/with a suit etc.

If it was me, I'd grab something like a Steinhart ocean titanium 500. Obviously up to you, but it seems pretty crazy to dump 4 figures on a utility watch for a few weeks holiday. I wouldn't want to risk a watch that expensive abroad in case someone pinches it/gets damaged, lost etc.
Also the benefit of the Steinhart is that you realistically can take it diving, along with being titanium and being cheap enough that if it does disappear it isn't the end of the world.

I don't think I would have noticed if the Breitling logo was replaced with Casio Edifice.

I like the Breitling, although being a Watchmaker I would notice the differences between this and a Casio. The automatic backlight, laser graving, charger, COSC certification super Quartz and thermo compensation makes it a pretty unique cool watch. I'd love one.

Key word being 'can'. Why would you want to? Get a dive computer instead.

Rolex Submariner with an Everest Bands rubber strap?

Vote for the Pelages. Looks very casual on the blue rubber without looking cheap but can (if ever required) be instantly smartened up but sticking it on a bracelet.

The Breitling is far too busy for my own taste and has others have said it could easily be mistaken for a casio.

Blue Omega SMPc

Don't like the Pelagos in blue, especially with all that text on the dial.

Looking at nite watches ! Anyone rate them at all? Love the fact they use GTLS

I really like them - had three (currently have two)

Very sturdy and the GTLS works well - also cheap for repairs / spares and replacements. They also have fantastic CS

Thanks for the feedback. Any other suggestions?

breitling - whilst i dont agree its a casio lol, it is expensive for what it is... still like it, but fear the resale would be epicly bad.

pelagos - i used to own a 1st gen one, so already know exactly what to expect. i really liked it, but im not sure whether to buy another.... like the blue :)

steinhart - ive owned one, wouldnt buy another tbh.

submariner - i already own a roller, and im after something a bit different.

If you're concerned about losing money, then buying retail is probably not the way to go? Always a hefty premium, no matter the brand, though some will hurt less than others if you do sell on.

What about an Omega Planet Ocean on one of their rubber straps? They look quite casual on rubber, and have decent depth ratings.
