What watch do you wear?

Props to him for admitting it though and not just trying to bulldozer through it. But props rapidly taken away for wearing a fake in the first place!

Yeah, it looked soooo good I was disappointed when the truth came out. On the one hand it wasn't a cheap knock off, on the other it was definitely the wrong watch to knock off if you don't know your onions. Especially as I'm looking to get a Hulk!

How adjustable is the bracelet on the Speedy? I sometimes find too much choice in sizing makes me constantly want to change it and find discomfort where there really isn't any, rather than just sticking with one setting!

This. I spent so long buggering about with my Seamaster bracelet in the first week or two. Get it to fit "Snug" then revisit it after a week. Pays dividends.

He probably paid good money for it, there's so many good pieces out there that he could have got for the same chops! (SKX?)

hi guys
a bit of advice please. if your were going to spend £3000 on a lady's watch what would you get?
needs to be a physically small case and ideally an auto. also is there a good retailer that might give money off, if this one and a gents of the same value was bought at the same time?
cheers

Nice, nice. I've never tried a Nato-type strap as I find the Oyster bracelet perfectly comfortable, but it'll be interesting to see what it's like in the coming summer months.

Spedy bracelet is quite adjustable. I went to the jeweller to adjust it and couldn't get it quite right. On a second visit they realised there was a micro adjustment in the clasp and it feels about right now.

Steinhart ocean one green ordered last night. At the last minute I was tempted by the red bezel model. But ill wait a while, longine hydro conquest in red will be next.

Nice. I hope you're please with it when it arrives :)

Any care about whether it's an 'in house' movement, or can it be a generic/modified movement from a company such as ETA?

Can you specify case size, as some people's ideas of 'small' are very different to others?

Any requirements, such as date, chronograph, water resistance rating etc.?

Can it be on a leather band, or must it be a bracelet?

Any requirements for case materials -gold, steel etc.?

Must it be retail, or can it be preowned?

Finally someone at work who is well into their watches! He noticed my Pelagos and asked about it, then whipped out his Panerai on a custom strap. Said he wasn't too impressed with the accuracy of it though, says it gains a couple of minutes a fortnight but accepts it for what it is.

Quite nice watch chat, was pointed to the direction of Vulcain, who provide watches to presidents and have done for eons, yet are not super expensive either. Their Cricket model looks very nice indeed and I love the alarm complication they do.

This is what it's all about isn't it, excellent and unique engineering without the obscene prices seen elsewhere.

what it is is in need of a service :o

My main watch is a Tag Carrera; it was a nice present for my 30th a few years ago :)

I actually need to get it serviced soon as the time is drifting a bit.

Just how reliable/stable the software is i suppose. Any major disadvantages to it?

If you had asked a month ago I would have sung its praises. At that point, I had had no issues. The watch remains completely stable - it has only crashed on me once - but I am now having problems with GPS. Up until now it has always connected quickly and tracked without any difficulty. Now it seems to take an age to connect and then be somewhat erratic about tracking. For instance, I popped out from the hospital for some supplies earlier and thought I would track myself using both the Fenix and my phone. Below are the maps. They should be identical since I started and stopped them both at the same time but the Fenix one does not even start until the halfway point. And shows some peculiar movements as well.

I have a feeling this has happened since a recent firmware update so hopefully it will return to normal with the next one but we shall see.

So would I recommend one? Probably but only if the next firmware corrects things!

thanks for your reply, by small around 24/25mm case , date a bonus but not a given, any band if it looks good to me, needs good everyday water resistance but no diving will be done! eta movement fine, but hopefully looking at bigger name brands rolex/omega etc. but if the watch is spot on not set in stone. if it was a bigger case size it would be so much easier to find. for the right watch preowned is ok

Again all comes down to what style you may be after but how about a Rolex Datejust Lady?

If you don't mind buying used there are LOADS of these available and some bargains (well in Rolex terms) can be had. As above Watchfinder may be a good call for one of these.

Steinhart ocean one arrived today.

Pretty impressed with the quality at the price. Not that sure about the cyclops though, may end up removing it or ill likely get used to it. In certain lighting the green on the bezel looks much darker.
