What watch do you wear?

I think too much lume or thick indices would have spoilt the watch, but agreed on the AR coating. My Omega has a small mark on it, and my Sinn 556i needs a wipe with a lens cloth every few days. The trade off is that increase in legibility and you get to appreciate the dial without reflections.

Been wearing it around the house, seems a shame to keep it boxed up.

I've been eyeing up a 356 Pilot, I've saved a lot of money over the lockdown period but I can't quite justify it to myself.

Love your 556i, nice an simple but yet very elegant.

Not a big fan of the chrono however, too "old school" busy for my liking.

@Janesy B is that dial purple coloured or is that the AR making a black dial look coloured? Looks cool either way. Always liked Sinn but they are quite pricey (although deserved I guess as they do innovate some cool stuff especially in case technology with oils and moisture removers etc) and quite big on case size. I think Stowa are the only ones doing pilot watches of the old skool sub 36-38mm sizing?

Yeah watch makers should just send Mrk watches free of charge ;)

I won't ever say no to the opportunity to take photos of nice watches! My profession is photography, and I like watches so this works out well for everyone really :p

Jokes aside though, I tend to give anything I like the look of a try at least once, but if the experience/service has exceeded any expectations I had then I'm all for going back to that brand for something else again in the future so how they handled the Miyota movement issue I had confirmed for me that they actually cared about each individual customer.

There are at least half dozen other 38-40mm watches that I really from TRASKA, Stowa, Maen, Yema and recently saw that Helson do a 38mm Sharkdiver series in both titanium and solid bronze and the prices are rather appealing. I don't like date windows too and the above seem to do models without date complication so this pleases me.

Ah good to know Mrk, when the whole COVID situation improves and if you come by London at some point I would love to invite you for a watch photography session ;)

Oh that would be awesome! I have people in London and would often visit, so yeah that sounds like a plan!

It's a 556 i B which is 38.5mm and has a blue starburst dial but can look black in the dark and takes on a purple tint in certain lights too.

Laco make a 39mm but 36mm is quite unusual as pilot watches are normally big for legibility.

The Captain Cook is very nice and Rado go way back, but that is nothing like the Coniston unless you're meaning another model? :p

Agreed, don't the see the connection between the Captain Cook and the Coniston

On a different note...she has arrived! (like an hour ago, haven't had time to take it out of the box yet)

Thoughts, lume shot, wrist shot, table shot, you have 30 minutes go!

First thoughts and photos below.

- Definitely a wow! effect when you take it in your hands and look at it
- It feels extremely light and easy to wear and yet it has an unmissable presence on the wrist
- The readability is top notch, zero problem telling the time in any ways you might look at it
- The movement while not highly finished/decorated is lovely to look at
- Bracelet looks and feels quite agressive, in a nice way
- Lume doesn't disappoint, subtle in how it matches the skeleton dial but bright and effective enough to provide good readability in dark conditions
- The titanium is much more greyer/darker then I thought, a little bit surprised from that perspective as I expected it to look a bit more clearer/shinier
- It's a fingerprints magnet because of the unbrushed/unpolished titanium material :D
- Not a fan of the "Lift" text on the bracelet clasp

Will definitely need your photographic talent Mrk to do justice to this watch! ;)
