What would make you leave or use the forum less often?

I'll stop posting when it stops being fun. Also, there are a lot more important problems than the forums to worry about. We have to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless, and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights, while also promoting equal rights for women. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.

Youll be here a long time then. ;)

Probably one of the following:
  • External factors like lack of time
  • Not enough people posting (seen this happen on other forums)
  • Charging a membership fee (I stopped reading something awful for this reason)
  • If it descended into a mess of rapid-fire threads/responses with not enough posts of 100+ words. Like the equivalent of a facebook comments thread.

The forum will out live us all and it will laugh at all our demises. Honestly though things would have to shift dramatically for me to stop coming.

Equal rights for all,

I used to find the mods abrasive in some ways but now I know that they are what keeps this place from falling into a cesspit. So I'm going to say if something happened to the mods.
most of them seem to have cooled down over the years just don't make a thread that bashes the police.

:P few coppers on here who don't like it

It would put me off If OCUK started using Discourse , It looks nice but all that constant down scrolling is a pain...

Ironically, I'd post more if OcUK ran Discourse. A tech forum that doesn't support inline code, markdown and the like?!... :p I realise this is actually much more of a gamer/home-PC type forum than a proper technical one, but still - there are subforums (Linux, Enterprise) where it would be bloody useful. Their absence makes proper, actually technical posts harder to parse, and the resulting posts are often ugly and hard to digest.

The ad/promo in the top right header box has been broken on Firefox since the forum software change, causing the '$(username) Inbox Alerts' section to be pushed off towards the centre. Thankfully uBO fixes that (by removing it). I reported it on the bugs thread when the change was first made, but alas nothing was done to fix it.

It's only like that on the dark theme on Firefox, the blue theme isn't like it. I don't know that anyone has reported this before, it's certainly the first I've heard about it. I'll add it to our list, thanks.

I'd leave. Don't all cheer! :D
