I really love sausage, no you don't understand, I REALLY love sausages and as usual the supermarkets have managed to botch an otherwise great product. I reckon I've eaten quite a few but what's your favourite?

Sainsburys basics are too grim for words. Too much fat and stay pink once cooked, what's that all about? Their 'Butcher's Choice' used to be quite nice but I noticed the fat and gristle levels have gone up and they aren't what they used to be. I don't like their Taste the Difference ones. Here there isn't enough fat in my opinion and the snag makes a dry unpleasant fry-up.

Duchy Originals, now there's a fine sausage. They've got it just right with the mix and a good amount of pepper in there.

The Black Farmer, didn't like these and they taste too similar to Sainsburys Taste the Difference. Closer inspection they are the same weight, the packaging is identical but printed differently and I smelled a rat.

Porkinson Banger were pretty good. Nice taste but a bit fatty for toad in the hole or bangers and mash. Good sausage though.

Waitrose have a gluten free sausage that's pretty nice, only problem is they use rice as the rusk, so every now and then you get a chunk of whole rice and it looks like a hunk of knuckle. Good tate and good seasoning though, well worth a try.

And one for the veggies, Quorn bangers. I like these and I'd rather eat them than a cheap sausage. Great texture and taste and fills that gap for the veggies when I'm on a sausage bonanza.

I thought you used to live in Beckenham, didn't you? You should mail order from the English Sausage shop there, best sausages in the world.
Mail order? It's walking distance :D

They're quite expensive, special occasions only from them. And their sausages aren't really sausage sandwich / fry up material. VERY good though, must go there more often.

I'm a huge fan of these. Haven't had them in ages. They have two types;

Red Pack = 6 THICK MOFO Sausages

Green Pack = 8/10 Thinner just as good sausages.

They are actually amazing in taste, although I agree with Jonny; no good for TitH or B&M. Probably more suited for a behmoth fry-up or something similar :D

Quite like the gluten free sausages Sainsburys sell in the deep freeze section. Cant remember the name.
Best ones are Ostrich sausages I get from my local food market at the weekends :D

If you must get supermarket sausages, I've found Richmond Irish taste the best. Yes, they're bright pink and are essentially a tube of mulch, but by god they taste good. If you're just after a standard banger then go for it.

My missus will only eat Richmond sausages. I do like cumberland sausages but not found a decent one for many years, not sure what brand my mum bought but they were so nice, in one of those part baked baguettes. yum.

Ah, my mates in Beckenham call it London rather than Kent. Thought you'd moved.

They are easy in fry-ups and sarnies, just cook the outside a bit to firm them up and then cut them in half lengthways before finishing them cooking. Not that expensive when you consider the size of them, you only need one for a sandwich!

Most of them, if not all, are gluten free too.

Mate of mine has started making his own,and his own salamis, and they are fantastic.

Asda organic sausages or porkinsons. The asda pork chipolata isn't too bad either.

But you need to find a good butchers, best sausage I ever had was a ginger and something one from a little place in blackrod (near bolton).

Best bacon I've had was from the bacon shop in newcastle-u-lyme (near the brown jug if your local).
