just thought i would ask ...

Eruption, Surfing with the alien, and Flying in a Blue dream took me ages to learn ...

as did Eugene's trickbag from Crossroads, and Icarus Dream suite from Yngwie

but my two faves have to be Hip today and Get the Funk out from Nuno, took ages to get it sounding just like it, but well worth it

whats yours?

:)

Some good stuff there, must have taken ages to learn it all:)

Not sure whats the most accomplished thing I can play because I like lots of styles so its hard to pick but probably some of the stuff from Children of Bodom such as the Silent Night, Bodom Night solos or any decent sounding sweep stuff. Took me a while to learn the technique and it seems to impress people :D

Also like to play this on acoustic,

Would love to play this though,

The bit that Jack Black plays of Smoke on the Water in School of Rock... :o

And the high, quick bit of Nirvana - Man Who Sold the World

A bit of a willy waving thread this one...

Depends if you mean 'play' or have 'mastered'.

When people say they can play notoriously technical songs, I take it with a handful of salt. The amount of people that say they can play Surfing With the Alien, then proceed to wimp the main theme out of a speaker is uncountable.

Talking of mastered, I would say Moonlight Sonata.

I generally only play Muse :o (well, I only really make sure to completely learn their songs)

So whichever song you guys think is their hardest :p

I look forward to you sending me a 'sweeping' intro to bliss ;) :D

Most recent thing I had a crack at was Guthrie Govan's track 'Fives' here's a live version, purely to work on the wide legato stretches he uses a lot, also had a go at 'Rhode Island Shred', live version here to brush up on some alternate picking.

I mostly write my own stuff so though it's not often I tackle an actual song, I try to improve my ability by writing different/more demanding stuff :)

Always With Me, Always With You - not the most technical of pieces but the phrasing is a beast and to get it to sound half decent is a talent!

Randy's Suicide Solution solo, that was c.o.o.l. to learn and has some excellent "play it loud, play it fast" pieces in it. Again, to play it properly is an art :)

I'd have to say Slayer - 'Skeletons of Society', but then again I'm not much of a guitarist. I hardly ever play any more.

Best pieces I can play apart from my band's stuff (math metal) is probably Teen Town or some Victor Wooten pieces

I can rattle through The Awakening...Just.

Bending harmonics = :D

God, I wish I could play like Claypool.

Aye. I've seen many people say they can play X only to hear them ruin it, note for note.

The most accomplished thing I can play? I'm a bit of a hack as I pick and choose licks and solos, but If I could Fly by Satch I can play 9/10ths through with the odd fluff... that's by far my greatest accomplishment.

Tetris is a close 2nd I'd say.

SRV's lenny.

One of many that is made created by its phrasing and not by speed. It's got such a mellow sound that doesn't resemble a typical blues track, but instead offers a range of techniques from a wider range of music (i.e. jazz chords, blues licks, classic rock style licks, combining different modes via passing notes)
