Whats the most accomplished thing you can play on guitar ?

I've kinda hit a wall in my guitar playing at the moment. I've been trying to learn some sweep picking but I can't really get the hang of it. Hardest songs I can play are probably Master of Puppets by Metallica or Imperium by Machine Head.

took me a while, its harder on the way up, than on the way down. start with boring minor shapes, before trying more esoteric stuff ...

again, all it is , is practice, practice, practice ....

I tend to learn random bits from loads of songs. I do learn songs all the way through but I usually just forget it.

I can play bits from:

Fleetwood Mac - Big Love
Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven
Muse - Plug in Baby
RHCP - Under the Bridge

etc.

Before coming home for summer I was trying to learn Jose Gonzalez's Heartbeats. It's trickier then it looks, but I was getting there :D

A lot of things I can play but the tempo can sometimes throws me off, like Yngwie Malmsteen's Vengeance. I can play the initial intro (not the traditional style bit) fairly quickly but not quite the same speed.

Also know random sections of solos like a bit from Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home.

I've been playing for about four years now and I usually play for my own amusment. Take from that what you will. :)

How many of you guitarists have your own recording facilities? I'm thinking it would be fun to setup a Jam now and then, maybe one a month, where we choose a backing track, and each jam over it.

Or if there's enough people, it might be fun to designate a minute for each person, so that one person can record their minute, export the audio and then the next person records their minute, and so on until we have a full jam with several people over the same track :)

Anyone up for it?

Sorry for the bump.

Has anything come of this yet or have I missed it?

Die To Live and For The Love of God by Steve Vai - FTLOG i've only recently re-learned though so could be tighter.

Echidna's Arf Of You by Zappa - quintuplets f.t.w!

Speaking of 'money where yer mouth is' - am slowly getting there with FTLOG. Best take so far:

Vai - FTLOG

Irritatingly fluffed a couple of notes in the relatively easy bits, but ach well, let's pretend i meant them....:D

Oh, and count me in as well if this whole 'jam' thing comes together.
