What's the oldest game you've played recently?

The original Driver on the PC. Works well with Windows 7 unlike every other game I have from around that time.

I'm not old-school enough.

Overall I think I prefer the lack of radar / arrow pointer in games telling me what to do next, at least on shooters anyway. Rpg's normally are the reverse for me. I tend to prefer them with objectives. :D

Fair enough, it can detract from the atmosphere when done badly (Area 51 I think it was was really crappy, some stupid tiny reticle that was distracting). Games like Unreal feel almost like an epic (geddit?) adventure at times because you are exploring this big world. But on the flipside I've played FPS like Doom2 where I've literally wandered around for maybe 15mins not knowing where the hell (pun intended!) I'm supposed to go.

Aye, sometimes it can be a welcome addition rather than a hindrance, a bit of guidance can come in handy. However, what I particularly don't like is when you want to explore around a bit and an NPC that is trying to guide you will keep nagging you to move to the next objective / check point. The last Turok game, iirc, is a good example. Otherwise a reasonable game. :)

Colonization. Used to play it quite a lot but not as good as I remember it. Just can't get into it. Tried the updated Civilization: Colonization but didn't enjoy that either.

Played Day of the Tentacle the other day after somebody mentioned it in another thread.

Also played Heimdall, but not the actual game, just the mini game right at the beginning before the group selection stages where you chuck axes to cut the damsels pigtails. Only played this as it used to be one of the games played on Gamesmaster and we were reminiscing old times after getting bladdered watching the final on Sunday

Console/Handheld - Tetris on my Gameboy SP. I hardly play my DS anymore, I'm constantly playing classic tetris.

PC - SWKOTOR, still have not completed it :\.

Ooh fired up DosBox again last night. Played -

Magic Carpet - CD. The intro to this game was so cool back in the day. Game runs wayyy tooo fast. lol Managed to slow it down to a more resonable fps.

Tomb Raider - lol oh my how this game has aged. I remember playing this with keys and how impressed with the graphics I was. Still a good game. Played about two hours and now I know why it sold so well.

GP2 - finally I got my gamepad to work with this. You know, it has naff looking graphics by todays standard, but the car control is amazing. The game is fantastic, we need this game engine with todays graphics - best F1 simulator out and still is.

Tie fighter - lol space combat sim that has aged so badly. Intro was funny as hell. Limited speech and such cruddy graphics. joystick didn't work too well with it, tie figher would spin round and round.

Finally, I tried Dark forces. OMG. Did we really play FPS like this? It runs like lightening and I wanted to play some more, but was time for bed.. I'll play some more tonight..

Old games are just so good, its all about gameplay..

Tetris on gameboy emulator, couple of times a week :)

Haven't beaten my personal bests in years though!
