I 'decided' that the upgrade from a 260 was not worth it especially taking into account the silly prices.

Am sure that prices will drop.

Particularly as I got fed up and bought a 5870 today

Quite the opposite I'm afraid. AMD are still only supplying tiny amounts in comparison to what the globe needs.

This flys in the face of what all of us who are waiting on sensible prices are now seeing as in the past week I have seen more of these cards available in other retailors than ever before. Amd also announced production would be 'ramping up' from thousands to tens of thousands per week in the middle of December. Bearing in mind the RRP Amd announced on these card releases and what is now being charged for them why should we believe your statement? Possibly because Ocuk will continue to 'rake it in' if we all believe cards will continue to be in short supply and rush to buy them now!

Stock may have increased ten-fold, but if it's not enough to cover demand then his statement is correct. And from what I can see, no other stores have stock again, keeping my eyes on a nicely priced 5850, 4 weeks until stock is expected

I do refuse to pay more than £200 for one though (£205 with VAT increase), purely because my budget can't take a blow like that, gotta get a graphics card with a £180 budget, and I can stretch only so far...

Ok mate, I agree with you on price, I refuse to pay more than RRP. Normally with retail you would expect them to be bang on rrp or LESS not more!
