What's your favourite beer?

Badger - Glory, Champion, First, OG.
Otter - Head, Ale, Amber, bright, bitter
St Austell - Tribute, PJ, Admirals.
Harvey's - Nut brown, Armada, India Pale, Porter, Bonfire Boy, Harvest, Lewes Castle.
Hepworth - Prospect, Sussex.

Nothing beats Otter Head from the tap (Has Tribute dropped slightly in recent years or is that just me?)

Awesome call on the Otter beers. I did a swift research trip in Devon for a week a few years ago, the local had Otter Ale & bright on tap. Lovely stuff (altho I can't get in anywhere near me :( ).

They also had Tribute which is where I got my taste for it. Luckily one of my locals does it on tap, and you can pick it up in bottles pretty easy.

As for it dropping, do you mean in quality? If so I find Tribute to be very dependant on the barrel level, the last 4 - 5 are always pretty rough. I haven't noticed an overall drop TBH. Maybe try a bottled one to make sure it isn't the prob of the pub?

Courage Best
Bombardier

Are what I pick if available, or another ale if not. Not keen on lager these days, especially stuff like fosters, carling, etc. Vintage ciders are usually up my street too.

Brilliant to see so many people who know a thing or two about real ale!

Nothing like a Cornish ale like tribute or doom bar for a good session!

If served right, there's not a lot that will beat a pint of London pride. Having lived in west London I've got a soft spot for the Fullers brewery. Massive shame about Youngs closing in wandsworth (especially as I never got to go on a tour).

I still think the best beer I've ever had is Deuchars XPA. The regular IPA is fantastic, but XPA is something altogether better.

Honourable mention for bombardier and harvey's Sussex best.

I suppose I'll have the occasional lager too but mostly with a curry!

Desperados, closely followed by Corona.
However, the 'cheaper' beer I like is San Miguel which is what I tend to drink as it's available at more bars near me than the other two.

I also used to drink Marston's Strong, Old London Ale, Golden Champion, Fiddlers Elbow, Circle Master and Waggledance, to name but a few.

After some research I have decided that my favourite bottled ales generally come from Suffolk or Kent. Can someone have a guess as to why?

I like the bitter/hoppiness of these beers e.g. Adnams, Shepard Neame, St Peters etc... are Suffolk and Kent the best hop growing counties?

I'll get slated for this.

But I see a lot of lagers in this list when the question relates to your favourite beer.

Anyway I'm a standard man so good old fashioned 80 /- for me (pref Tennent's)

Kent is known as the Garden of England and just driving along the M2 you can see a whole host of hops and stuff growing for beer.

As a general definition, we will include under the heading of beer all lagers, stouts, pale ales, ales, wheat beers, fruit beers etc but not cider. Obviously...

That's why everyone is referring to lager as well.

Technically true, yes. Lager is similar ingredients to most beers, just fermented with a diff yeast at lower temps.

Having said that, I don't rate Stella, Fosters, Carling etc as anything other than pap :p Yes I'm a beer snob. But I have some amazing ale houses close to me and brew my own, so I have a right to be :p

Trust me, you don't need to speak to me about the technicalities and production of different beers. ;)

I'd have to say Stella >>>> Fosters and Carling

Stella gets a bad rep I feel :( Granted I'd take a Becks, Peroni or Budva over Stella.. but it's still what I'd consider a nice lager when you take into account all the dross out there.

Lager on the Continent is actually a hell of a lot better than what we're used to here. It actually has flavour.
