What's your "go to" take away order?

We've started getting burritos recently. They're fairly healthy (I think). The only problem is that they're not that filling. Tonight we've got naked burritos (no tortilla) and I got some chips from the fish and chip shop round the corner.

Always think fish from a fish and chip shop ahs no flavour.

Mrs just bought home a boneless bucket from KFC.

£20!!!!

First fail boneless....wtf.

But seriously, for £20 I could have eaten the entire thing myself, quite easily.

I had a go at her of course.

Very disappointed and you know what, that might be KFC in the bin.

(Once you are in the bin, you never come out)

Its rubbish.

I get this hankering every so often ( I mean years here) and then I have one, then I am instantly reminded why I go for years in between. Just big carbohydrate chips that make you feel bloated, and plain tasteless white fish in batter. I normally slap a whole ton of tartaire sauce all over my fish to make it taste of something.

If anything the smell of fish and chips is better than eating it.

And its expensive.

You need to find a place that does it properly and it needs to be as fresh as possible with good quality potatoes and fish, , the batter needs to be the correct consistency. It also needs to not be oily.

You say it's expensive but so are all the other takeaways listed. Pizza is horrendous value. Curries now charge by the poppadom. At least with decent f&c you get a nice bit of fish and plenty of chips, too many chips quite often. It's all about the batter as opposed to having the tastiest fish.

Should have waited until Tuesday they do an offer of 10? fillets for £5 or something.

Some supermarket pizza's are ok for the money and i do buy them from time to time,
but they all come on pre cooked frozen bases that you're just re heating, fresh dough from a good independent place is so much nicer, there's no comparison to me
Co-op Irresistible Wood Fired pizzas are surprisingly good if you have a hot oven. They do cost a lot more than other supermarket ones.

It was interesting moving round the UK and seeing how takeaways change. When I lived in a city the Indian takeaways were good and the Chinese takeaways not so much. Then I moved to an area where all were awful. Now in suburban south coast we have good Chinese, Thai, and fish and chips but the Indian ones are worse than a supermarket jar of sauce, and nowhere close to what I can make from a recipe book.
