So, it has the fuel consumption of a V8, the horsepower of a V8, and the emulated sound of a V8.

Why not just get a V8?

If there were an affordable AWD platform V8 I would seriously consider it.

The fact is most of the time V8s are either in crap cars or unaffordable cars.

31mpg for school runs, town driving and general short runs, 40+mpg on long trips.

Zafira 1.8VVT.

Just thought I would share my last 2 tanks! 31.3mpg and 29.3mpg

I'm used to 27 being a really good figure, and those last 2 tanks have not been motorway or granny style driving. Infact the 31.3mpg around 1/3rd of the fuel was used on a countryside drive!

Looking at the poll... Didn't actually know you could get cars that did less than 10mpg!

What sorts of cars are those, Veyrons?

My F20 1 Series 118i engine is only 250 miles into its life but already it's performing well on MPG.
This morning through rush hour traffic, with auto A/C on and a cold start I managed to achieve nearly 51mpg :)

Can't have been that much traffic if you managed a 35mph average - I struggle to manage that doing Southampton to Bath unless I hoof it :p

Thats hugely encouraging stuff - please keep is updated as it would be really interesting to see how close to the official claims the new petrol engines are.

I've been nothig but dissapointed with the ocean between the economy the figures give you the impression you might get and the actual economy on the diesel models*

*Yes, I know, extra urban isn't motorway, etc etc.

Pretty happy with what I'm getting out of my Focus, this tank was about 70% motorway and 30% B road 'blasts' with AC on most of the time.

Impressive result on the 118i, can't wait for economical petrols to get rid of diesels.

BMW really manage to get a lot out of their petrol engines, that's impressive MPG.
