Get between 36mpg to 41mpg out of my 530d

Thats absolutely miles off the figures you'd expect from the stats :(

My latest...

Devon to Glasgow 36.65mpg (Was showing 38-39 but got stuck in well over an hours worth of stop-start traffic on the M6 that ruined that)

Glasgow to Newcastle via Inverness 33.43mpg

Newcastle to Cheltenham via North Yorkshire and Cheshire 32.64mpg

Cheltenham to Devon 37.78mpg

All calculated the old fashioned way :p

Ahh I forgot about this thread. New fill up for me and another over the 70 mpg mark.

Managed 765 miles this time on 49 litres :D:D

Getting good at this driving like Miss Daisy lark.

Petrol fights back !!!
The same journey and car settings as yesterday but this time I was a bit more cautious on the accelerator. I had to brake to a stop 6 times so without those I think I could reach an average of 60mpg. This is 85% A road and the rest local roads.

So this morning I averaged 54.4MPG (petrol car with 170bhp)

Lets see what happens when you fill the tank. ;)

Also how accurate is the speedo / odo?

Obviously with it being a new car you would hope both would be accurate but thats not always the case.

The onboard computer has already been calibrated to within +\- 0.2 MPG.
I did two fill ups and adjusted the calculation to compensate for inaccurate readings.

Two fill ups in 250 miles?!
Not full fill ups. Two £10 fill ups, measuring the actual mileage completed against reported and adjusting the calibration to compensate for the difference - It was pretty close anyway.

For sure a complete 1 click total fill up is going to provide a more robust benchmark, but this is already close to the actual consumption.

I have a Garmin GPS device I use for cycling so I know the mileage to my work place is accurate :)

Its like those threads years ago when the Ford Puma was the best car ever
hehe, I was 20 and it was my first car. (10/11 years ago)
I'm sure you've posted a few things about your previous Rovers which you cringe at now.

Even Fox thought a Citroen Xantia was awesome back then

GF's Clio finally did something useful last week. Edinburgh and back at 54.9mpg.

Shame it was 8 hours in a Clio though.

Probably could still drive that thing faster than the hairdresser widow maker that kills you as you enter treey corners whilst stalling up hills. :p
