I installed FuelLog a few days ago to check out what my logged spending is (it tracks services/fuel etc, not only fuel) and was surprised that fuel had dropped so low since the last time I checked (lol). I haven't even taken notice of the price per litre in maybe 2-3 months.

Anyway, car is saying 23MPG with some heavy footed driving around certain winding roads here. I'm not complaining though as I'm putting £20 in a month. The joys of not having to drive to and from work :p

I am interested in seeing what the figures tally up to over the course of the year though.

After running my polo GTI 1.8T for 2 months now, my average mpg is in the region of 34-35. Typically on my communte to/from work i average 37-39 mpg (mostly A roads with a few B roads) going for a hoon or to/from swimming will easily see well below 30.

Not bad, actually quite a bit higher than I expected from it to be honest :)

Some months i do hardly any miles and some weekends i do more than i do in another month.

By Saturday i would have done over 700 miles in the past 7 days!

Last 3 fills were 37.07, 34.75 (really had my foot down on this one !) and 38.17

Surprised myself, yesterday driving to Beckton (A13/A406 jcn) in east London from Nantwich a distance of 188 miles, I averaged 60.4mpg in my Honda Civic 2.2 i-CDTi

The whole return journey was 58.6mpg over 376 miles. Total cost £40.50 checked by refilling the tank.

The motorways were busy but flowing and I was driving between 50 - 75mph the whole way, no stops and few gearchanges. The weather was dry, no wind and fairly warm.

My general average is 46mpg incorporating all road types and speeds

I'm actually at 23mpg so far this tank, which is amazing as it's still my usual stop-start-short-trip profile. Must be the warmer weather I guess.

My longterm average since May 2010 stands at 26.22mpg.

Just brought my New Corsa CDTI 1.3 , and already noticing the difference in fuel.

in my original vectra i would get an average of 37.9 mpg, with this diesel i get an average 60-70mpg, done over 150 miles on £15 worth of fuel. And i know you all hate corsa's with passion but i love the car.

02 Plate Hyundai Elantra 1.6 GSi - Currently at 24.7 but creeping upwards. Seeing how long I can drive around in 4th gear without stalling. All short town journeys.
It was 22.1 about 2 months ago but involved a lot more 1st/2nd gear driving :D

Simply not changing gear is not what makes your mpg better.
If the engine is struggling because the rpm is too low change down, that's what the gearbox is for.
What helps mpg is not slowing down and not using the brakes.
Just as much fun can be had trying to hold a static speed on any given road as trying to get to v max does. Tight bends being the most fun, especially in my old thing, it hangs the inside rear wheel about a foot in the air :D

The E350CDI is averaging about 52MPG on the 440mile return run between Bolton and NW3 London. Around town, I am getting early 30's. Can't really complain about this.

Having done around 10k in the Lexus GS300 now, ive averaged a touch over 30mpg which isnt bad in mixed driving.

Almost identical to the 335i, which although its still good, fair play to the efficiency of the BMW

Went to Middlesbrough and back a couple of weeks ago. 480 mile round trip and got there and back...on one tank

Wasn't a lot left mind, but I was very impressed, onboard trip computer said I averaged at 42mpg there and back. Very impressed with the car!

Why on earth did you go there?

It's horrid! :p

Woop, new record today. :D

Which APP is this? I am currently using Fuelly.com but its a pain to log into their website when an APP would be much handier.

Currently averaging 44.5 in a 12 plate Mondeo Estate Titanium 140 over 4667 miles - a little disappointed to be honest, lots of motorway.

Thanks

Was getting around 30mpg from my X6 40d but after a re map it is 35+mpg.

With all the focus on fuel economy isn't it amazing that BMW havn't cottened onto the magic powers of a remap to give more power AND more economy from the same engine, they would really benefit from it :D

I'm averaging about 55mpg in my new Fabia (new VAG 1.6TDI CR) so far. When pupils are driving, the trip computer shows approx 45mpg, and on longer trips I see 60+ trip average. All readings taken from the trip computer - I haven't bothered doing it manually yet... But still, I'm very happy with that :)
