The other benefit missing here is that PCs arent actually usable when they boot into the desktop screen as a tonne of other things may have to load along with superfetch kicking in. SSDs have a major benefit there.

New boot time with OCZ Summit 60GB in replace of Samsung one below.

Intel E8400 at stock
Samsung 64GB SSD
4GB DDR2
Windows 7 RC1 x64
NOD32 v4

As mentioned above, those with RAID will have a delay on POST.

38secs, Windows XP from clicking re-start back to a usable desktop lol.
Progress 'eh

Mind you, I only installed it a couple of hours ago so it's got nothing on it.

Have you tried re-testing a few times? there's quite a bit of variation I found between each restart and the time given. That difference might not be as much after a few more goes.

114 seconds according to this tool on a samsung spinpoint F1 (Q6600 @ 3.2, 8GB DDR2 800MHz, Win7 x64) - the POST screen is quite slow though and not just POST but prepost - my mobo is a UD3P and the pre-POST GFX init screen takes almost 10secs alone.

Also I assume people are doing this on a clean user account and not one that has stuff loading (msn, steam, AV) etc...

I'll try this tonight when i get home on my aging 939 pc with xp. Should be a nice indication of whether i want ot upgrade to windows 7
