It seems never ending.
It honestly doesn't seem all that long since the original xbox one came out, times flying by

Xbox one X is not 4K capable.
Technically only Forza was advertised as 60 fps. They only banged on about 4k.It'll be interesting to see how they manage this supposed "4k 60fps" in a lot of games, as on paper the console simply doesn't have the grunt to do it. 30fps possibly but i'm betting it'll only be the very occasional game that manages 60fps without a major downgrade in visuals.
Does seem kind of weird that both ms and sony released upgraded consoles at relatively close to the end of a console cycle, just seems to be a big push for 4k for some reason.
God forbid on a pc hardware forum
Hey if it was a new console with good change of hardware I would buy one it's only 500 quid hardly a massive amount of money and normally try the consoles at some point had Xbox one and the old PS4 and even bought a PS4 slim last week as I was bored and wanted to try horizen, but with devs coming out saying it won't do native 4K on some games already without it being out is hardly a good thing.
£500 is near 1080ti money and being on a pc forum I would chose that over a console right now considering you can pick up a Xbox one s for around 100-130 2nd hand and a PS4 for near the same it's hardly good value spending 5x that for not a whole lot more.
It's not the same improvement going from a £100 gfx card to a £500 one.
This is likely to give you the best bang for your buck in your scenario. For 4K, without turning settings down too much and depending on your desired FPS, you'd be looking anywhere from a 1070, 1080 or ideally a 1080 Ti. The next wave of GPU launches should see that performance trickle down to the next price point at least.the 290 is still more than enough for 1080p 60hz, all you need is a new cpu to boost those minimums and stabilze the average, i would swap the FX to a Ryzen 1600 or 1700, that would give you a nice fps boost in 1080p, and plenty of cores and thread to future proof or multi-task.
beside by the end of the year you will have GPU choice from Vega and maybe volta, so to me the priority is the cpu upgrade, the gpu can wait.
Parents will be cheesed off yet again with a 3rd release so soon.
