When are you going fully electric?

Lotus is surviving by being a platform to sell Chinese EVs.

I never called Lotus low end.

It's not a partnership or a platform to sell Chinese EVs, they are wholly owned by a Chinese automotive group (Geely). Geely also own Volvo/Polestar, LEVC (London Taxis), Smart and a bunch of Chinese brands.

OK so the Eletre is what Lotus were typically up to? Or did they let it happen to allow them to continue to do what they wanted, because their business was failing?

You can get a chademo to CCS adapter now, expensive but it’s there if you want it.

PS. I’d want to be spending less than 13k for a 2023 leaf given you can get a brand new 2024 pre-reg for £16k.
Thanks for making me aware, I thought £13K was great,£16K with pre reg miles is even better.

My usage would be to work and back each day, roughly 24 miles each way.

Any distance driving would be done in the Ateca we have.

Perfect use case for an EV IMHO. Crazy to think that is Kona money too:

Edit: damn EVs are CHEAP.

Or they were told to do it by their Chinese owners because they need to make a return on their investment, expect to see more 'mainstream' cars being released from the brand. Geely (and other Chinese car companies) want to sell EV's into Europe and more people are going to be willing to spend 'proper money' on a Lotus/Volvo/Polestar compared to some weird brand from China.

It's nothing we haven't seen before, the strategy is straight out of the Porsche handbook because you can't make enough money only making niche sports cars. Even Auston Martin sell an SUV and I'm pretty sure Porsche sell more SUV's than 'proper' sports cars these days.

How will other manufacturers be able to compete with Chinese ev’s long term?

Yes...like I said, but with less words.

Also what have they done with that Renault 5 interior looks like there’s yellow sick all over it (just watching an ad on discovery while waiting for the 100m final)

I'd been getting pestered by the EV scheme at work since I've been indecisive. They told me the prices are likely to change soon so I should get on board.. I then checked for a quote again and it turns out the price has fallen by £35pm.

At this rate they might be even cheaper if I hold off longer lol.

The crazy thing is, I was amazed by how many amazing EVs there are under £15k on Auto Trader. It may even be possible to ROI over 5 years with some creative maths...

Yeah it's been surprising. The megane e tech I've been considering is now about £390 a month including everything on salary sacrifice . But then I see on auto trader they can be had for around £20k with under 5000 miles on them.

Seems prices are just plummeting everywhere.

holding off premium tax is coming in next year, so if quote prices are dropping and delivery times not imminent, that will be counteracted by chancellors April fool day surprise.
