Excellent, that's what I'm looking at going for. Solid tip on the smart socket too and it's good to hear people's real world experience of them for vehicle charging.Sorry yeah that's the one I meant - Octopus Go.
I wouldn’t be charging at 13A, the plugs get warm enough at 10A.
13A is asking for a fire.
i have 2 granny chargers, one that came with my i3 and one which came with my ipace and i think both of them are only 10A anyway. i think most of them are unless you buy the dodgy ones from aliexpress etc.Yep 10A max would be my recommendation.
As long as your mileage/charging is enough to counteract the higher day rateAh yes Go is now 5 hours at 8.5p - not bad at all.
See if your MG does indeed come with one, but I'll be surprised if it does. Like I said, I'd avoid Chinesium brands where you have zero come back if your house burns down. I'm not saying Masterplug is the best brand in the world, but the fact it's bought from Screwfix should give some "UK" backing/security.Would you recommend a granny charger like this?
I like the idea of the delayed timer

These guys seem to be more on the ball with safety regulations and especially saying you should be charging at 10A.

I always charge at 10amp. The Masterplug has a little screen you can monitor if you so chose; but it really is set and forget with the Smart BG plug I linked.
Not sure - probably not - but I'd avoid any "car" settings as it would get in the way when trying to rapid charge/on a journey etc. Best to get the home comfortable/repeatable IMHO.can't he set the AC charging rate in the MG too, to avoid any potential limitations on the house system/granny lead.

That's all Leafs, not just 2018 onwards. I've had the top mounts covers by 3d printed covers for about 8 years. Was a strange oversight by Nissan they I'm surprised they've not fixed.I have Octopus Intelligent Go and Octopus's app is not compatible with my charger (Ohme Home Pro) yet and it simply opens the Ohme app instead. I still get the cheap rate from 23.30-05.30 plus cheap charging periods outside those hours as well. I have had the car charged to 80% by 22.30 on a couple of times when there has been extra cheap sessions. I don't know how it all works and it seems a bit like sourcery to me but it just works.
Anyone with a 2018 onwards Nissan Leaf, I discovered a potential problem yesterday when searching for something on the internet. I came across a video showing that the drivers side wiper has it's water run down the side of the windscreen and straight into the cup on top of the suspension strut causing corrosion to the bolt/nut and to of the strut. This can be cured by purchasing a pair of strut covers (strangely enough they are for a VW) which I ordered last night. I haven't checked my struts yet, hopefully they won't be too bad as the car is only three years old and was garaged by the previous owner. You can watch the video here.
It should come with a granny charger.Would you recommend a granny charger like this?

Guess it depends on the car, Tesla's as smart enough to know to apply the schedule where set and ignore everywhere else.I would always avoid any charger limits within the car UI. Had my I-Pace refuse to rapid charge once and it took 25 minutes before I realised the restricted hours were set. How the hell JLR didn’t think that DC should override such restrictions is inconceivable.
If you have a smart charging unit, or granny lead that can set such things, always use those. It means when you are taking a longer trip the only thing you need to remember is the max SoC percentage.
