BYD in MK is just round the corner (literally) from Seat/Cupra.£16k in China never equals £16k in Europe though. European taxes and Chinese incentives make that impossible.
We still apply a 10% tariff to non-EU imported cars also.
For example, the Dolphin is way more expensive over here than it is over there and BYD have not made much of a dent in that market yet. The only Chinese brand that has is MG but that’s largely down to it being an already established ‘British’ brand.
It’s not a 2 seater but the Hyundai 5N has those things you mentioned.
- Engine sound
- RPM’s
- Bounce off the limiter
- Gears to change - manual or auto
Boring it isn’t - it’s many petrolheads car of the year.
Only a matter of time before this reaches other EV’s
Example
Sorry but it’s quite pathetic and sad that they are putting childish pretend engine ******** into an EV. Nothing says more desperate than that and it doesn’t even sound remotely realistic in that video. SOOOO fake.
I remember doing a test drive in a Mach-E and the salesman being upset when I asked him, “can you turn of the childish engine noises, I’m not 12”.
The first setting I turned off the day I got my I-Pace was the pretend engine noises. It’s like when you put a tin can in your bike mudguard as a kid because it sounded a bit like a motorbike.
Sorry but grow the **** up.
And having a loud exhaust on your car so the world can hear you coming is any better?Sorry but it’s quite pathetic and sad that they are putting childish pretend engine ******** into an EV. Nothing says more desperate than that and it doesn’t even sound remotely realistic in that video. SOOOO fake.

But if you can switch it off why does it matter?!Sorry but it’s quite pathetic and sad that they are putting childish pretend engine ******** into an EV. Nothing says more desperate than that and it doesn’t even sound remotely realistic in that video. SOOOO fake.

Got to love people with opinions on stuff they haven’t even experienced
Yep, Nissan are serious trouble and the that merger may save them. VAG are big trouble and so all of the Stellantis group. Hardly anyone can compete with the Chinese manufacturers specifically on cost.Even Honda and Nissan are exploring a merger.
