When are you going fully electric?

But why is it cheaper. Yes there is price gouging going on. But they'll never compete with the labour laws and a state supported industry that gets 3-4 times more in subsidies from the state than EU manufacturers.

That's before you get into heated seats being a subscription model or removing buttons to save money.
It's a shame that ceo's of auto companies have to struggle on in these harsh times.

How many other roles with over inflated wages there are, whilst they whine about sales dropping.

Chinese ceo's might be rewarded/stock-options less than the typical ftse100 ones though, thought it was 400x average company wages in the West, that they have talked their package up too, post financial crashes.
KRA's based on financial success/profits ! what was Musks controversial 40Bn (was it?) package based on, not forgetting Stellantis one Gomez? escaping embezzlement charges man in a suitcase.

Electric loaner to drive over the upcoming weekend whilst my ICE is repaired - brave new world.

The western auto manufacturers are in trouble. Partly of their own making .

But the ribble effect of that through economies should not be underestimated.

It started with EVs but it's going to effect ICE just the same.

Part of me thinks it’s their own fault - tough luck. This was absolutely avoidable and they decided to push back on EVs instead, potentially signing their death warrant

The other part of me thinks everything possible should be done to save the European and Japanese car industries. They might not be able to make EVs as cheaply as the new Chinese companies but they could still be competitive and the brands are valuable. People will pay 50% more for a Porsche because the brand has value.

They need to want to be helped though. Purposely overpricing EVs so they can say there’s low demand, and lying about hydrogen show that they still want to stick their heads in the sand and churn out ICE vehicles for short term ££.

Shocked at the depreciation on some ev cars, just watched a video on YouTube, a guy had a porsche he paid 120k for and on trade in at a porsche dealer he was told the value was 40k but they weren't even interested in taking it

That's what happens in a price war in technology. Also the UK tax on company cars is a factor that causes this. Fewer than one in five new BEVs going to private buyers.

If you're buying at 40k though....

Average industrial wage in UK is almost 4 times the Chinese one and in China they work 25% more hours per week.

Kinda sawing the branch you're standing on evangelising Chinese industry. 996.
Lower wages and lower cost of living

I'm not evangelising Chinese industry, I just think the west gave it to the east willingly to save a penny.

Yet still don't think it's a threat so carry on as normal.

Please don’t tell me that was “the macmaster”..? though he is quite smart.

He bought a Taycan on PCP and has paid for it by making EV-hate videos about it (e.g purposely stops at locations with only 2 chargers then does a 15min video about how there’s no charging infrastructure).

So he gets to drive one of the best EVs you can get whilst making money out of playing to people’s fears.

Taycan depreciation is similar to any large >£100k luxury car - who’s brave enough to own one out of warranty (not specifically because it’s an EV, but because it’s a Porsche!)

Worth while looking at cars depreciation before 2021 especially ICE cars. All perspective seems to be lost when people talk about Porsches.
