When are you going fully electric?

well known french institution company Argus - they have journalists who can actually drive he did their r5 review
as I think I commented before, not just a random youtube video (it's M&S)

80mph range in winter gives you an upper bound / worst case .... and if you were driving into a stronger head wind at 70mph probably see the same.

e: I'm amazed when people watch a whole Harry/jonny/rory/top-gear video - life is too short

Other things life is too short for - reading jpaul EV posts online.

It’s a good job I already have an EV.

You’re on glue aren’t you? You watch a Norwegian guy or foreign languages about EVs you don’t own, probably never will and screen grab Google AI.

You are right, life is too short for you to keep posting detritus, please stop. You’ve done that thing again “I’ve posted before” as if that gives it any credibility

I’m continually perplexed how other members seem to tolerate your noise.

like I said I don't watch a norwegian guy - I watch french videos yes - the argus publication link is informative on r5 winter behaviour;

winter range/charging are basic reqmts that matter to me (the great unwashed), if a 2nd hand ID3 had met them better, I wouldn't have remained with ICE

One minute range. The next Nurburgring videos. Amazing. Id3 what? You haven’t even driven one

My spidey senses are tingling a bit. He's been quite vocally anti-EV for quite some time and I suspect is losing a share of his audience as a result. He's now fluffing up this one a bit to pull things back in line imo.

I don't get the sense from his stats that audience numbers are a problem. But he's had a lot of oddly uninteresting cars, lately. There's only so many reviews of cars I'll never even see never mind own I can take.

I think like many he just likes the design of the R5. Because he ignored all the things he usually complains about.

Someone with a garage full of classics and expensive cars. Is going to have a perspective on EVs that's completely irrelevant to most people.

The Renault 5 is going to gain interest beyond the usual EV crowd simply on looks alone. Somehow they've managed to get a car to production with many of the little styling elements that usually stay firmly on the concept car only. The fact that the only free colour is a vibrant bogey green fly's a flag that says 'this one is a bit different'.

I can't see any scenario where I would ever own a city car now but I'd love to score one as a rental/courtesy car at some point!

Should be going live today, but website not showing any data at all and I can’t enter a meter reading! So first impressions aren’t the best vs how slick Octopus software and general response rate was! Will see if sorts itself for tomorrow.

Let us know how you get on. I'm tempted as it works out as a great deal for slow overnight charging with a dumb car and charger combo. The two other reduced times are useful for us too.

I hope not but I was surprised he liked the car so much. I think it’s great but other reviews have said it’s not the most dynamic, handling wise. That’s usually Harry’s highest priority.

These are two wildly different cars. How did you go from an etron (crap range, lovely car, big estate/SUV) to a model 3 LR (great range, crap car, medium size saloon)?
Well basically i was after a change. I do fancy a SUV type vehicle and until i found out the range on the Etron i would have been happy with that. Like i said another is the Lexus NX450h+ which is a very nice SUV with fantastic comfort and build quality(And i am a Lexus fan), however this is only available in Normal Hybrid (NX350h) or the Plug in Hybrid (NX450h+) I dont really fancy the other Lexus E-Vehicles(Terrible range/performance).

The reason i mentioned the Model 3 is that i am not a fan of the looks of the Model Y (Although the new one looks much better but out of my price range) so a Model 3 would be a similar size to my IS-300h but all electric, should i decide against a SUV Style vehicle.

New Model Y will be cheaper in a few months. The launch edition has a load of options ticked and high APR applied to it.

They’ll be knocking them out for a lot less once production starts. They’ll likely offer RWD models which are cheaper and have more than enough power.

Tomato website kicked in yesterday pm and seems to report fine. About 2hrs behind live but reporting for usage and cost is quite clear. Not as snazzy as Octopus, but functional!

Sal sac MG4 for the wife turned up this morning as well. Actually quite a nice car (for the budget) drives ok / looks and interior alright. The software and interface is not the best though! Compared to my BMW i4 it’s very slow / laggy and just confusing!

Excellent, think I'll make the jump in the coming days.

Worst case I either swap back... Or they go bust and all the customers are absorbed by Octopus and I'll be back to where I am anyway :p

2 hours is nothing, sometimes my data is days behind. Not sure if that is a meter issue or an Octopus one.

My dad had a Nissan Serena 2.3 NA Diesel. I think that had half a Shetland pony in terms of HP :D
