This was an example of a test that they did that was above and beyond the standard tests. They are using the data from Tesla crashes, which is fed back OTA automatically by the cars systems, to adjust the timing of airbag deployment.

The truck slammed into the wall because it had just went through the front of the Tesla.

I cant believe that is being read as a good thing! You don't use customers skulls to calibrate your restraints systems. Unlike a crash test dummy they don't have G sensors in their head anyway so where does this 'Real world data' come from, a post-mortem?

Tesla brand power is UNBELIEVABLE!

Yep I watched the video. There is no doubt it's polished and looks amazing - why would they publish anything else. Other car companies do scenario safety testing like this, but don't publish slick videos, because they don't need to satisfy the US road safety board :p

Tesla are becoming like Apple - they think they are the only ones and compare themselves with themselves, no other companies exist making the same product.

That guy talking reminds me of Jony Ive. He speaks a lot of words, but when you unscramble the jargon, what is he actually saying !!

Let's do a spatial analysis and extract the key points here...

They are doing a test that isn't recognised as useful by the industry body (improving on the standard / missing the point?)
They are getting data from the car
They are using that data to make improvements to the car

Yeah, I think this is all pretty bread and butter.

What you heard "We are the only car maker in the world with over a million cars on the road" vs what was actually said. "We are the only car maker in the world with over a million cars on the road, full instrumented from a sensing perspective."

What about that statement was untrue, how many other manufacturers have over a millions cars on the roads with 5, 6 ,7+ cameras onboard, and all the other sensors that they gather data from?

Maybe other car manufacturers could take a leaf out of their book, and instead of spending £100's millions o advertising cars driving on windy roads in Switzerland, produce videos showing them going about and beyond for the safety of the buyer, and other road users?

Because at the end of the day people just look at the NCAP rating and base their purchases on other factors mainly

Making videos of car safety videos and cars crashing is not going to make people want to buy your cars... pretty obvious :p

twas mainly their/M3 bonnet shape that reduced pedestrian ncap I thought - but, polestar has it's active bonnet too.

What exactly are they going to "educate" people on? 0-62 times, 1/4 mile drag races and bleating on about range aka the three EV obsessions? Then a very relevant lap time comparison?

Pretty sure they'll have segments and features with information about transitioning to a BEV from ICE, be that re-fuelling e.g. home charging, charging networks, off-street and on-street options, and maybe even some interviews with people in the industry who are driving the changes. Range tests, real world comparisons to claimed vs manufacturer specs, maybe even take about efficiency, and how things like heat pumps help EV.'s in certain climates.

Unless you are telling me there is nothing that people need to know, other than they cost more, and they use electricity rather than oil based fuels? :confused::confused:

I've never even heard of Quest

There's already so much EV content out there I honestly don't see how this is going to make any difference. I'd have a different view if it was on BBC and Jeremy Clarkson was doing it but it's not.
