When are you going fully electric?

You won't be able to do the salary sacrifice I think; but could always take the car as a company car through your LTD?

Currently the benefit in kind for a company electric vehicle is only 2% up to 05/04/2025 (which is very low) and the company gets 100% tax relief on either the lease payments or whole cost if purchased outright. The company will also pay for the car insurance and servicing which is tax deductible.
Hmmm, I am ltd company owner so not sure if I can do such a scheme myself.

Does anyone have any experience with getting a charger installed in a designated parking space at a flat? I'm thinking it's worth just getting a free quote from a local company (OLEV registered) first, but I know I'll have to get permission from the landlord (£150) and then pay for cabling work to run from my supply (first floor flat) down to my space somehow as well as the charger itself needing to be on a pedestal rather than wall mounted.

The other directors of the management company have already poo pooed the idea of taking a communal approach unfortunately - one in particular thinking that charging EVs isn't the future and that we'll all either be swapping batteries, using synthetic fuels, or not using any vehicles at all in the future.

Gotta love this, the stuff of dreams

1300kg, 590hp, 81Kwh battery, nice restomod/recreation

Simulated engine sounds interesting but then so does the petrol version with 750hp twin turbo v6 and less weight.

Of course, complete unobtanium for me, lovely all the same.

Considering Alfaholics recreations are 250k on the high end I shudder to think what these will be.

E-308 sw bev, competitor to mg5 estate - sub 40K? https://topelectricsuv.com/featured/electric-station-wagon-estate/
not LFP yet, but, "battery packs equipping electric 308s are a new generation, featuring a new chemical composition of 80 percent Nickel, 10 percent Manganese and 10 percent Cobalt."

id3/4 2020 recalls on 12V lead acid battery, swap to Lion; like tesla had, they seem to have had shortened life due to non-optimal dis/charging.

I really want a BEV estate and really tempted by the MG5 but the thing that puts me off is the newer MG4 is a brand new platform which seems a lot better.

Then there's the decision of a smaller LFP battery with all the upsides of LFP (3x longer life, not having to limit charging, less chance of thermal run away etc) or the long range with another 50 miles but with its battery drawbacks..

Why does it matter if the pack is LFP? LFP has lower density.

According to that website the pack they are using is only 51kwh and that’s NMC. A LFP pack would be even smaller!

Look amazing. Circa 400k I read.

Yeah advanced 811NMC…

Oh wait. Just premium/performance chemistry not entry LFP. Dunno how jpaul finds anything exciting in this PR lip service.

Yea, I drove an MG4 a few weeks ago and it was significantly better than the MG5 (which isn't terrible, but feels and drives distinctly like a budget affair).

Ah that's interesting, i'd heard a few comments on reviews saying it but nice to have first hand feedback saying the same.

I think the MG4 would actually be perfect for me if i had the cash on hand now my daughter isn't a baby anymore so a normal hatchback would be totally fine, still not sure about if it'd be better to go for LFP or NMC battery or whether i should even be worrying or caring about that.

Will make no difference to the vehicle, its got 8yrs warranty, just buy it drive it how you like and never think about it again, if anything, it is more advantageous to fail just before the warrenty ends than after. :D

that sites explicit 'review' of e-308 sw gave the quoted new battery chemistry, so, I wondered exactly what it is, since stellantis are engaging on LFP(e:), and its in the MG5 short range now (and tesla too)
LFP being a cheaper entry product with more (2x no?) life cycle w/o 20/80 limitation, just potential cold weather issues , does give the promise of better residuals for 1st&2nd owner, and cheaper first hand lease.

I suppose it's too early to know whether teslas with lfp will have better residuals .. what did they sell to Hertz , those customers won't have battery discipline.

New Octopus GO rates are out. In the north-west (or at least where I am) it's 44.28p/kWh day rate, 12p/kWh night rate, standing charge at 47.04p/day. As long as I do 5000 miles a year and shift some load overnight, I'm still about £180 better off a year than on SVR for everything.

New Octopus GO rates are out. aren't some of the economy 7's a better compromise

.....

on newer battery techs .. what stellentis& bmw are buying into

Anode-free cells typically have low cycle life compared to conventional cells, which has not made them viable in an automotive setting. ONE’s Gemini dual-chemistry architecture has opened a straightforward path to widespread use of anode-free cells by reducing cycle and peak power requirements by 90%.

Gemini pairs more standardized LFP and anode-free chemistries into one battery pack, enabled by the company’s proprietary DC-DC converter. This allows each specialty chemistry to focus on different functions: LFP for daily driving, and anode-free to extend range for long distances. This combined system is expected to deliver more than 250,000 miles of lifetime service.
