When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

whats the general rule of thumb on leaks, assuming a september reveal, theres been radio silence for a while now..
We'd already seen Founders Edition cards by this time of year for the past couple of generations. Pictures of the 3080 leaked in early June 2020 and the 4090 (branded 4090 Ti at the time) in late May 2022. Accurate specs for all the Ada dies were available in April 2022, but that was in the wake of Nvidia being hacked in March.

Either the rumour about the launch being further off than expected is accurate or Nvidia are just running a tighter ship these days.

I just checked the prices after not looking in a year and they have barely changed. Dropped by £100 across the board, but for GPUs now approaching 2 years old thats still fat too high.

I've also given up buying new games now anyway as the GPU prices are so high, no point buying them either tbh.

Hopefully next gen does something with prices but i doubt it.

Which GPU are you currently running?

Anyone aware of any GPU Deals? (Looking at AMD only really..)

I’m considering a 6800 for £340 but tempted by the 7800XT as it’s far newer but not sure this is worth £420/£450 over a 6800 for me.

Would I be silly building an AM5 Machine and buying into the older tech of 6800?

Will be upgrading to a 1440P Monitor once the dust settles from building a brand new PC.

Currently have a 1080P Monitor with Freesync/144HZ - So will be happy with that for a while playing Competitive Shooters and the odd AAA Title with the settings cranked up.

Trying to remain sensibly budgeted as despite wanting a new PC the whole cost of Graphics Cards these days really makes the purchase sour!

Edit: I have considered buying a Sub £200 RX6600 for 12 months and then upgrading to 1440P + GPU

But not sure it’s worth going down that route at this stage.

Any opinions would be welcome!

Kind of in the same boat, with regard which GPU (6800 or 7800XT).

Wasn't looking to upgrade really from a 6700 but after getting into the world of VR, a performance boost is looking tempting right now :p

If you're budget focused then grab the 6800 for now, if it lasts you a year you can then upgrade for probably the same total cost as if you bought a 7800xt now.

7700 / 7800 has 4 FREE games for month of August, quite the value adder.
