When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

I'm in the same camp, with a budget around £350 to £400, so waiting to see how things settle down in the next month or so. The benefit of getting older, my eyes aren't what they used to be, so there's no point in paying for a high end card to run things at ultra settings with high FPS.

Fingers crossed that AMD deliver.

Any high expectations I had of the 5060 Ti died the moment I saw the RTX 5070 specs. At best, I bet Nvidia give us 7700 XT performance at the 7700 XT's current price point (but with the usual Nvidia bonuses, i.e. better RT, DLSS4, etc.).

Probably, but we really should wait until we have benchmarks. Specs lie all the time. Like we know, on paper the 4080 looked like some kind of 60ti tier card but it obliterated the 3090ti and its massive die and 8 billion cuda cores and 900 watts and 8000 vram and triple decker bus. Until we know how much, if any, their latest generation stuff is improved, it's all just the worst kind of speculation. I learned a bit of a lesson from the "price leaks" of the past few weeks.

With that said, I wish they'd stop using frame generation in their propaganda charts, that automatically always makes me cynical.

AMD's card will be competent I'm sure, but if they had the kind of performance we were interested in, I feel like they'd have tossed a couple charts at us. (+30% faster than 4080 super!). I'm picturing like a GRE type card or 5700 or something like that.

Reporter: I have a question regarding gamers and consumers. We noticed a significant gap between the RTX 5090 and 5080. The number of CUDA cores in the 5090 is more than twice that of the 5080, and the price has doubled as well. Why did you create such a large difference between the flagship and the near-flagship models?

Jensen Huang: The reason is simple. Once someone wants the best product, they will always choose the best. You know, the market isn’t so segmented. And our enthusiasts, if they want the best, they won’t settle for something slightly better or save $100 by choosing something a bit worse. They just want the best. Of course, $2,000 is not a small amount, and it’s certainly a high value. But keep in mind that this technology is being used in your home theater-level PC setup. And that PC—where you’ve probably already invested around $10,000 in your monitor and sound system—will definitely need the best GPU. So many of our customers are simply after the absolute best.

Only half delusional. $10k PC's? I'd say that is a bit mad - I've spent more than I'd like to admit on mine, but nowhere near that.

"And our enthusiasts, if they want the best, they won’t settle for something slightly better or save $100 by choosing something a bit worse. They just want the best." - I actually think he's spot on here. I don't think people should, but there is certainly a group who want the best and want it straightaway. The 5090 simply won't struggle to sell.

He sounds intoxicated with power and status. His company is literally worth trillions of dollars. it's just an unimaginable world that he lives in that must make it difficult for him to have any empathy whatsoever.

Not picking anything up this gen, still happy on a 3080. Even before I would think about it, I'd need to see some real word data, all of the hype is just that. Bar charts showing data is irrelevant when there are so many questions about the data itself - I'd like to see it in relevant use cases first.

God, I'm a grumpy old man these days!

With the emphasis on AI now it almost seems like they are doing us a favour by releasing graphics cards. Intel was probably our only hope of disrupting the duopoly but they don't seem to be quite there yet and will probably need another generation of making mistakes to release something with high availability and stability.
