When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

the buyers for higher end cards arent there any more, hence why price drops, the lower/middle cards are still mostly(some exclusions) a fair bit over so called msrp

That does make sense, but it doesn't make it less annoying that there's no good deals for entry-level to mid range buyers

Oh well. I cracked and picked up a 3060 for £130 more than it should be priced, but I was getting a bit desperate. It's no performance king, but it plays all my regular games locked to 60fps, and that'll do.

Yeah I think waiting for MSRP isn’t worth it now with this generation. Probs same for 4xxx as well. I’m going to just plump for either a 6700xt or a 3070 I think. Anyone know what Inno3D or Zotac are like?

I had hope back in march that it would happen, but prices have been about the same for a couple of months now and I can't see any reason that would change. There is plenty of supply, we can't blame that any more. If you need something, you just have to pick the price point you're willing to pay and get what you can for your money.

Afaik both Inno3D and Zotac are the respectable budget brands. If they have a fault, it'll be cooling and fan noise, and they most likely have shorter warranties than the premium manufacturers. Personally I keep buying MSI, after multiple good experiences. My current MSI 3060 Ventus does get a bit loud at stock... but it undervolts like a champ. Down from 1.075v to 0.925v with a 40w drop in power consumption and a 100mhz overclock. Result, fans at ~55%, temps peaking 74, in a fairly tight and warm case. A decent compromise between the hardware and my ears

Thanks. Yes I was looking at the MSI 6700xt which is slightly worse than a 3070 but I doubt I’d notice the difference of a few frames? I then got distracted by “AMD can’t Ray trace etc” and got stuck. It seems a good deal
To me

The excuses seem to have shortened but the prices remain fairly high. There may be some fire sale deals eventually but the tipping point will be the 'flood' of miner GPU's we were informed about.

Depends if you really will use ray tracing. Most games will need DLSS or dilution of settings, the reality is you dont need it as a tiny section of games implement it well enough.

Also can't play Minecraft...

Which may mean nothing to you, but it infuriated me since that's in my top 5 games. Although I'm told their upcoming Vanguard drivers will have much better OpenGL support. Should have had that years ago though.

Inno3d is 2 or 3 years, depending what variant (iChill series are 3 and the x2 are from 3080 and above, if what's listed on product pages is correct)
Zotac is 5 years but I have heard they will only honour it if you register within 30 days of purchase, otherwise 1 year

How easy it would be to actually get warranties processed by either of these I have no idea, guessing they would both need to go back to asia if ocuk can't handle it directly so could be quite a long timeframe.

That's the dilemma I'm caught in, 6700xt or 3060ti is around the area I want to be, not bothered about RTX for this gen, but the main game I play is ARK:SE which I think favours nV (UE4) and being such an old game (which has evolved quite a bit over it's life, if you'll pardon the pun) there aren't many up to date benchmarks around for it (some on youtube, but usually only single card and no idea if settings are consistent)

I was going to wait it out until the next gen launches but can afford something now and worried that we'll have a repeat of the last couple of years :/

Yeah, I think I'm inclined to agree with you @Zarax. I just want to be able to do 1440p gaming and VR so I'm not sure paying extra for a 3070 is worth it.
It's the only card I'm seriously considering to get, although on the other hand RDNA3 could give better performance at the same price hopefully and not be too far away...

i wont be buying mid range till prices fall, so picked up a 1070 for 100 quid that will tie me over for a bit

I'm a bit tempted by the new prices for either a 6700XT or a 3060Ti, but I think it's too late for me. My 1070Ti is adequate and it'll probably only be 3 months before the next gen is released and there's enough evidence to conclude that the 7000 series from AMD and the 4000 series from nvidia will be significantly better than the current cards. Paying ~£500 for a low midrange card a few months before significantly better cards come out that will probably have to be around the same price point doesn't seem like a good deal even though it's a much better deal than has been available for a while. Or maybe a 4050 will be on a par with a 3060Ti and a 7600 will be on a par with a 6700XT but either new card will be significantly cheaper. I think I'll wait and see.

do you think energy efficiency will come into at all?, i know gamers are generally blind to those sorts of things, but im sure there will be a section that looks at energy efficiency,

Miners certainly will. Maybe some other people as well. I think more people will balk at a 1KW+ power consumption for a home PC and that is on the cards with the next gen at the high end.

I'd maybe pay some attention to it, but not much. More a matter of "would I need a new PSU for that?" than "that's too much electricity used".
