Where do you get your suits from?

I usually go to my man in Whitney. Bit of a drive, not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Although I've recently bought a lightweight from charles tyrwhitt which I'm very pleased with. I can highly recommend them - I get all my shirts from them.

£50 for a suit? Are you serious? Most of my ties cost more than that :p

For off the rail suits on the high street, M&S is probably your best bet. Stay away from Next, River Island, Topman, Burton etc.. They will sell you a shocking looking excuse for a suit. It will be shiney, poor fitting, poorly constructed and just a waste of money. It'll also make you look like a mobile phone salesman.

If you want a decent suit, go to your nearest tailor. When peole hear the word tailor they get scared off at the thought of paying big bucks but you'd be very surprised at how reasonable their off the rail suits are priced and they usually throw in alterations for free. If you are feeling flush and are willing to spend 4 figures then look at getting a bespoke tailored suit. Nothing will match the fit or finish.

Definitely have a look at the nearest tailor, you'll get a lot more for your money and they need the business!

says it all...

i get mine tailored, they cost more but they guy lets me pay £100 per month or less if i wanted. its an easy way of doing it.

slater menswear i got three of them around 100 each and they are tailored to fit and look awsome, i buy everything in there, best menswear shop in scotland. they do have branches throughout britain...

Slaters is excellent, or some of the mills round west yorks have some quality suits.

Tailor made, Hong Kong.

A hundred times better fitting than an off the rail suit. It amazes me the amount of money some people spend on designer off the rail suits when they could get a great tailored suit instead.

Moss Bros do quite nice cheaper suits - problem is for me most of the stuff I have to buy needs to be slightly fitted or altered for it to hang nicely, otherwise it just looks cheap.

Tailored suits are the only way to go. If you want some cheap, go to Thailand - they're amazingly cheap and fantastic quality! I've got one from there (should have bought more!).

Another vote for slaters, excellent shop with quite a bit of choice.I do however own a few suits from Burtons and Next, next look prettier, but the 2 burtons ones lasted ages and still look great.

Im hoping tp grab a few from M&S in the sale at xmas.Id love to go and get a tailored suit, but id rather not spend 7-800 quid on a suid which may go out of fashion in a few years (lets face it cuts and stuff change as does material) I have a expensive suit double breasted suit, im still waiting for it to come back in to fashion!

i got my last 2 from debenhams, i'm really pleased with them. one thing to also remember is your accessories - belt, shoes, cufflinks etc! there's no point having a wicked suit and wearing crap shoes! i'd also avoid next, the only suit i've bought from there fell apart after about 6 months, but as suggested M&S is also good.

i was in london last weekend and ended up down saville row - one day when i've got loads of cash i'll be there...

I too have a Paul Smith suit, really good quality.
Just been out and bought a new Aquascutum suit from Brigdens in Derby for a very reasonable £349.
I don't wear them very often, but I'm fussy and it took me ages to find a suit that I liked.

At the moment I've got 1 from Debenhams and one from Youngs. Looking to get another in the near future so finding this thread very useful.

Bangkok.

Tailored suit with three fittings with a swathe of fabric choices ~£100-150 depending on how good the cloth is.

i'm reallu up for a holiday / suit shop...

i wanna a flared suit!!

I own a tailored white suit....bit of an impulse purchase.

I've managed to get a surprising amount of wear out of it. I think when you own a white suit you begin to look for events / reasons where you could get away with it - which in turn leads to a richer life.
