Where do you get your suits from?

Probably around 1/4 the price of a Savile Row equivalent; Bangkok is somewhat notorious for doing good quality bespoke for low prices. The business in question is quite famous despite a rather 1990s-esque site. :P

yes the site does need a bit of a makeover, as you say they are quite famous and make suits for a lot of high up folks ( inc George Bush snr )

M & S if you want a decent off the rack suit. Also sell nice ties and shirts to go with it. Not really all that fussed about M & S styles but their suits aren’t badly priced and fit me well.

Next also sell cheap suits, but I sometimes question the durability of them.

What I like about M & S suits is that some of them can be machine washable. Saves on dry cleaning charges – even the jackets can be washed in your machine if you follow the instructions correctly, and hang it right when wet.

Price has little to do with it. Get yourself to a tailors and get one that fits you. There's nothing worse then an ill-fitting, off the shelf suit.

slaters, excelllent service, they were fantastic for us when we hired suits for my wedding, so i will be purchasing more suits from them in the future.

the Bangkok Place ?

about £150-200 , very expensive for Bankgkok :p but an equivalent tailored suit here would be 5x the price

Would you need to go there though? Or can you send over your measurements and they will send them over?

they will do shirts from your own measurements but for suits you need to visit and go through the measuring and 3-4 fittings process

once you have had one made they take final measurements from the suit and you can re order over the web

whenever I am in BKK I call in to be re measured :)

I own a tailored white suit....bit of an impulse purchase.

I've managed to get a surprising amount of wear out of it. I think when you own a white suit you begin to look for events / reasons where you could get away with it - which in turn leads to a richer life.

Superb

How quickly can you get them made? I'd feel a bit dodgy going all the way over there, the name of the city worries me, Bangkok  ;) Heard loads of cheap clothes to be had there, where do you look out for the good stuff?

about 4 days at a minimum, some of the crappy ones will do them quicker

I buy all my decent stuff from that one place, branded designer stuff is more expensive than here

silk stuff such as Ties, Boxers etc can be bought from the street stalls for about 10% of the UK price

I have two tailored suits from my days in india, 2 from paul smith and 1 from hugo boss that doesnt come out a lot. Having said that the two tailored suits are by far better quality and cheaper i might add.

most of the Bangkok tailors are Indian

My last purchase was in Burton's. Normally I don't buy from there, but they had the one suit that looks nice and fits me well, so I bought it.

I *will* get my self a full bespoke tailored suit one day. Even if I don't need one, I just want to have a tailored suit. Dunno why, probably because my old man used to bleat on at me about "getting one == being a man" or summin.

Another vote for Slater here. My boyfriend needed a suit for a funeral last year and we weren't able to get into town to buy something until the day before. We tried every store on Princes St, but couldn't find anything at the right price and size, so ended up in Slater. The service was excellent and the suit he got was much better quality than the ones we saw in Next etc.
