Where would you emigrate to?

I moved to Cyprus for a couple of years. It's a lovely country but I'm glad to be back. The phrase "The grass is always greener on the other side" very much comes into play. :)

Canada: but they won't let me in, get this:

Im 23, No dependants, Degree educated professional, no debts. Basically said i'm not old enough.

Now let's look at England:

Oh my god, i think i'm going to be sick, forget it.

Do you mean they refused you a citizenship or just a visa? In either case get yourself a bunac visa for 1 year, this will let you get your foot in the door with a company over there. Once there and the company likes you get them to apply for a labour market opinion (it takes about 2-6months to process) then you can apply for a new 3 year work visa (not an extension though but a full work visa!!). Once you've been there for over 3years without hitch then citizenship is a few forms away (+medicals and interviews ;)).

How on Earth did this thread turn into a Monty Python film 38 posts in?

As for where I'd emigrate to? Two options - Southern France (Perpignan area) or Canada (Vancouver Island).

Both are places that I really like, full of decent people, good food and some epic driving roads.

Has to be New Zealand from me too. I remember the first time i saw the LOTR movies i thought to my self i really have to go there :)

thanks for that heads up, sounds like a future!

Well, think it was citzenship eligibility. Don't have family over there, nor any Canadian relatives and have never lived there, so got marked down a lot for that. One Canadian requirement is French speaking, which is odd as thought that was just Quebec, etc.

But thanks for info, will look into it. I'm a wierd one where i don't mind the cold, love the Canadian scenery and the east coast seems to be a little england, just not crap..err or little :)

But how can one summon fire without flint or tinder?
