Where's Jean-F??

A better question is, does anyone here really care about anyone else here. I have long suspected not.
This isn't anywhere near to being true. The mod lot are always on about "I wonder where x person is?"

I find it sad when people disappear and you have no idea where they went. :(

Needs to be like a half way house between no leaving threads being allowed/leaving threads being allowed.

This is exactly why I blocked him. It became highly tedious.

Poster: can anyone recommend a good hotel in Rotterdam?
Jean: Rotterdam's in Holland.... Holland has cheese... I remember a time when my daughter bought some cheese from Tesco...

... and she drove home via Hendon Way, turned left onto Hocroft Avenue then left onto Farm Avenue, then right onto Harman Drive, etc etc :D

You've both forgotten that he will have been in a cafe on a break, drinking a coffee and reading a newspaper.

I'm curious why Jean-F's posts wind some people up so much - pretty easy to skip over them, it isn't like you are forced to read and reply to them or they take over the whole thread (normally).

Same here, just skip them if they bother you.
I've never blocked anybody, I feel like I'd be losing out.

I enjoyed his yarns, sounds like he had a full and eventful life (and hopefully he still is around!)

Can we really not give someone the time to speak? If you don't like what someone has to say, ignore them and move on - no need to call them out on it.

My FiL is like this (and most women!) and it's like, "get to the point". But i'd rather he was here to tell his tales, than not here with us :(

I'll tell you what's worrying, a few years ago I decided to take time off from posting in the forums and logged out but I did still read them.
A few months later somebody made a post asking what had happened to me (I can't find it) and one of the Mods said I was still visiting the forums because they could see my IP address (or something).
At that point I thought what's the use in being inconspicuous and just logged back on again.
In the case of Jean-F no Mod has confirmed he's still stalking.

This is the down side of being online.

Every day logging in and see the same names. Then one day you log in and a name is gone, never to be seen again.

Apologies, thanks for the update, I was getting worried.
Hmmm, I'm going to correct myself now. I've double checked and actually it was a week before the update that he was last on, I initially thought it was a week after the update so it has been a while. It is unusual for him to be absent for such a relatively long period.

He must have gone through at least one cycle of the 30-day authentication? Surely it couldn't be that keeping the ex-pres away?

I found myself wondering the same thing the other week. I hope he's ok. I enjoyed reading his posts. I don't recall him being involved in anything negative prior to his cessation in posting, so I hope he just woke up one day and decided not to bother, rather than something more sinister occurring.

Come back @Jean-F !

E: meant to say, take it GDPR prevents a mod from reaching out to him to make sure he's ok?
