No. They're just bots. They're not real. You're not real. Stop pretending to exist!
:(

But but you love me. You must love me.

Actually I was better when I was an admin, not a father and had more time and empathy to give to the forum and help people. I do miss that. Priorities change as life goes on though.

However I agree with the sentiment that was posted, some of us have been here ages and regardless of whether we agree or get on with people on the forums most normal people actually care about their fellow humans. Heck I've met hundreds of you over the years which is quite scary. Perhaps more normal now but 20 years ago it was incredibly odd meeting people from the internet!

Yeah who would have thought we summon strangers from the internet and get in their car in the future.

A better question is, does anyone here really care about anyone else here. I have long suspected not.
I never knew this person but it really hit me when i found out that DannyW from here died in a car accident

I think it's the other way round, back then it was very common and loads of us did it. The last few times there have been general meets arranged, very few have turned up. So few that those of us who have been involved have decided it's not worth bothering any more.

Which is a real shame, we've had some epic get togethers. I've pondered trying to bring back the Swansea Christmas Bash but I just don't think it'd work.

I guess it's like meeting a pen pal of yore, in many cases all one's preconceptions are shattered, and you wonder if the photos she sent are actually of her and not her much better looking friend or sister. Or how can someone who wrote such elegant prose sound like a Scouse barmaid with dental issues?

It was normal to us on the forum but for the general public it was quite weird, your perception is skewed as someone who was part of it. "it's ok we're from the internet" was a common phrase if you remember. Just like online dating was seen as a bit odd.

Now however all of that is absolutely normalised and not weird or odd to meet people from the online world.

people don't meet up now because the core group have had families, change in commitment and the novelty of it is no longer there.

I concur. It was weird to meet people from the internet, and there were much more aspies around [sorry for the term]. That's why OCUK used to be so entertaining in the 2000s. Now the internet is full of normies, that's why it's not so weird to meet up with people anymore and why OCUK is more dull.

What an awful thing to say, if there's one person I believe on here it's him.

and @Lysander , how can you block him, he's so unargumentative?

His postings were similar to a TV sitcom where an old guy hears a conversation and then drifts off into a day dream, giving excessive amounts of detail which aren't really relevant to the conversation.

Never bothered me, but could see why people would have blocked him.

To be fair, i only have one person on block and i don't think they post much anymore anyway as i rarely see them in This Instant and Moment as ignored content.

I don't disagree with that, he reminded me of my Dad who just added every bit to a story to get to the final bit.
I find him entertaining but don't disbelieve him for one second.

This is exactly why I blocked him. It became highly tedious.

Poster: can anyone recommend a good hotel in Rotterdam?
Jean: Rotterdam's in Holland.... Holland has cheese... I remember a time when my daughter bought some cheese from Tesco...

... and she drove home via Hendon Way, turned left onto Hocroft Avenue then left onto Farm Avenue, then right onto Harman Drive, etc etc :D
