Which 1080Ti

I thought I'd decided on a Ti but now I'm stuck deciding, found an Auros X for £700 but there's also the likes of the Palit Super Jet for £669 and of course the Gigabyte black for £650 from OCUK which appears to be the cheapest. The Destiny 2 offer sweetens the deal somewhat more as I was going to buy it so it's essentially £40 off any card I get but I can't decide which one to get as they all have such subtle slight differences and I can't figure out whether those differences are worth the extra money :(
Go for the palit.

No, it is one of the best regardless. Fastest, quietest and best performance (which is why gibbo chose it for their initial bundle promotion). A good bit ahead of the aorus in my experience. Ultimately though we are only talking about noise and temperature, performance is very few fps between them (unless you are really bothered about this).

Bring on the 2080 Ti :D
Considering the price and size of cooler they should be cooling everything and not skimping, as has been said bigger, not better.

Your point? It is still better.

The graphs and data does not agree with you statement. How can it be better if its runs hotter and neither overclocks any better. Its certainly a good product but by no means does it have the performance to be BETTER as you state. Maybe its better that a Founders edition or a sub £700 card.

Building the biggest card doesn't make it inherently better at anything. Zotac's 1080 Ti Amp Extreme doesn't have the best VRM (and uses rebranded components, so we can't get datasheets, anyway) and doesn't have the best cooling. This is a card which squanders its size advantage with poor design, resulting in a nearly 3-slot card which has thermal performance (as a whole) worse than 2-slot competitors, some at lower prices. Entering the ultra high-end market, occupied by the ASUS Strix card, Zotac can't compete in noise-to-thermals. Looking instead at the ~$750 market, you get competitors like the MSI Gaming X and EVGA SC2, both of which operate better in the noise-to-thermals department across the entire board.

Zotac is left in an odd spot. The Amp Extreme isn't particularly good at any one thing. It's just sort of OK – or downright warm, in some instances – and that's simply not good enough to compete at its price. The primary reason to buy the card would be looks and the digital RGB LEDs, at this point, which isn't necessarily a bad thing – it's just unfortunate that Zotac couldn't put their surface area to better use.

Why is it better? The 1080Ti operates well within its VRM spec temps as stated in the video and has a low max core temp of around 65C. It has a 5 year warranty and some of the highest out of the box memory speeds (probably why the memory runs a little warmer). Stock core boost is higher than any of its nearby competitors and its Spectra LED system is miles ahead of any of its competitors too. And as GN recommends you can add cheap thermal pads to lower the vrm temps further, but my last card (which was only the core edition and so cheaper than most of the competition) happily boosted to 2037mhz from stock fine (and held this) which is actually higher than the guaranteed 2025 EVGA KINGPIN card. I know GN doesn't compare gaming results between 1080tis, but why not provide a chart of max out of the box core boost speeds and memory speed too, after all if max stock clock and memory speeds don't matter why pay the extra for an aftermarket high end GPU over a much cheaper FE edition?

I would take the Zotac every time based on my current Aorus.

What about the EVGA SC2 ? I hadn't even considered it until AMDPower just added that quote about it :/
Ow if you have that wide a range of budget then yes EVGA is tops, good warranty and returns process should you ever need it, and an extra year of it over the Palit. You have a silver and black one to choose from @ £728.99 too :D

Go for the palit.

Palit is 2 year warranty ..... for a £600+ card
Gigabyte/ Aorus / MSI/ and standard Aorus 3 years -
Aorus Xreme 4 Years ( one line registration for extra year)
EVGA & Zotac 5 Years ( EVGA have to pay for extra 2 years- no transferable with 2nd hand RMA)- (ZOTAC online registration for extra 2 years over UK 3 year- 2 year RMA is base in Hong Kong - found out buying from Distributor they at least post it from me up there with a build for a friend)

Ones that standard out for Warranty, EVGA and Aorus Xtreme - Support EVGA and Aorus - specially since Gigabyte have 3+ reps on here and EVGA do have very good over the phone and email based CS along with 2nd hand Warranty

Gigabyte are also UK based if you need to deal with them. When I have their customer support and turnaround times have been excellent.
Isn't EVGA UK based for their returns...?
I don't think that Palit is in the UK but Hong Kong.

I am leaning towards the Xtreme card, it seems to be very quiet as well. Noise matters to me.

I suppose the only thing that I would have liked from the Gigabyte is the second user warranty being transferable.

What's warranty treatment like though when coming to the end of some of these, 2 years 10 months from now, what happens when your say gigabyte card dies? I've got loads of comps and bits prolly as old as some of you lot, and I've never had to send anything back that wasn't DOA or failed after a short time. Palit card seems well built from the reviews, a 2 year warranty wouldn't bother me, it'll be worth not much in 1 year 11 months time anyway :p

I was in the same boat as you guys, hence why i created this thread. I ended up going for the Zotac Extreme Core, I read the good and bad reviews and i felt this was the best card for me.

I don't regret it at all! The card is a beast and sooo quiet and cool.

I think which card is a matter of opinion, do you want to overclock it yourself? Do you want to quietest? The Fastest out the box clock?

For me I just wanted a fast out the box clock with nice temps, the RGB is a nice added touch.

I'm really happy with it and that's someone who has come from EVGA Hybrid's.

Still can't make my mind up lol I must have looked at about 40 different vids offering reviews on the SC2 and Auros Xtreme.

It's basically coming down to looks and style

SC2 is a it's a 2 slot card (good), the cooler is better than the Auros, but it looks ugly and RGB isn't as flashy
Auros is basically 3 slot (boooo), the cooler isn't as good despite 3 fan vs 2 but it looks much sexier than the SC2

Performance is going to be the same between the 2 really and down to chip lottery if I come to OC

I hate being such an indecisive fussy bugger but even gamers nexus can't say which is the "best"

I am almost in a similar point now, I need to choose between Gigabyte Auros and the EVGA FTW3. Only issue for me is the FTW3 is silver and I hate silver fan covers, if it was black I would have taken it. The zotac is out for me given the bad review( relatively), shame really zotac is a nice looking card.

Since EVGA and Gigabyte are similar warranty and performance, it would it come down to physical characteristics, here i am heading towards the Gigabyte. I will make my decision soon because its just bothering me now lol

Well the Zotac has just been dropped to same price as SC2 so it's back in contention because it looks nicer than the Auros Xtreme & SC2, might not as great but that 5 year warranty and better looking RGB and general design

In terms of the bad review it's being compared against the FTW3 (heard bad reviews about this) and the Asus Strix which are £60 more at the moment so technically it's in the running compared to Auros and SC2 at current offer price :/

As for FTW3, It's not really better than the SC2
biggest problem is they both look ugly
