AX GT
AX GT
Suzuki Swift GTI ?
Weighs about 800kg and has 100bhp!
Actually I didn't, after you initially mentioned it I had a look around autotrader, by the time I got back it was mentioned again. Sorry about that, no need to take it personally sir, the credit is yours
Lupo, never thought of that one, i'll go have a gander.
I think besides the reliability/build quality/etc issues they're pretty good engines and they've got a pretty good chassis, should be able to improve it nicely by stripping it all out and modifying the suspension too. 205 XS would be my other choiceThey are quick, but also very flimsy. I had a brand new windscreen put in mine as it was cracked when it was given to me, and it cracked again a few months later, I suspect from body movement. The current owner has also has been through 2 windscreens! Doesn't help that all the glass is very thin to keep weight down.
I also rarely see these in local events, compared to dozens of 205's which must say something.

That they sold less, they rotted more and have more of a tendancy to fold up into a fag packet when farted on?
There's a NICE AX GT near me - black, white Compo MOs (must have cost a bomb in three-stud fitment), stripped, caged and it spits flames on overrun. Sounds like it revs to 9krpm too :|
It has a beam splitter on the front bumper; someone's sprint toy methinks...

Sounds like my old one, White compo MO's weren't that much either.
Engine is the same in the GT as the XS, albeit in a 4 door shell. However the later GT's had Single point injection instead of carbs.
I do remember my brother's GT was a 5 door.

me I'd look at the renault 5 gt turbo, they're only a 1400 iirc
Alternatively a corsa sport (first models) 1.4 16v should be good for about 130bhp+ with a ecu remap, potent little motors in corsa's, better than the larger ones when you take capacity in to consideration.
what the hell, I'll chuck in an EG Honda Civic (92 to 95 model). They come with 1.5 litre engines (the 1.3 is pretty poor) but they also do a 1.4 engine from the later model (and you can get these engines for pennies), just slap a standard VTEC SOHC head on it from the 1.6 ESi and you have 125bhp with a 7,400rpm redline in an 850kg car![]()
Sure...Why doesn't he just stick a ZZR1400 lump in there?
Couple of mods and he'll be knocking on 200bhp.

can he use stock cams that came in another Civic?
