Which 55" TV wall mount?

I've got my eye on a Samsung UE55KS7000 which I'd like to mount on my lounge wall. I've not mounted a TV before and as such have no idea which of the many available mounts to buy.

I don't envisage needing to tilt or swivel the TV once mounted, my TVs have always lived in the same position on a TV stand, so I guess that narrows it down somewhat.

There are still dozens of mounts at various price points out there though - is there a particular brand or model that I should be looking at?

Thanks.

Assuming it's a brick wall, yes? What I would recommend is using Anchor bolts when mounting the TV bracket. It's slightly over kill but it's zero chance that bracket coming off that wall! lol

Can't really recommend brand or model. As long as it's VESA rating matches the one you need not much to it really...you don't need to spend a fortune on wall bracket these days.

I used this one for my ks7000, works fine. (I recognise you don't need swivel /tilt but can't be bad I suppose?)

Comes with some fairly hefty bolts and wall plugs too. I assume you're not mounting to plasterboard? (!) as the mount itself is fairly heavy.
Does it hold the TV pretty rigidly? I'm one of these people that has to have the TV exactly level, so if the mount lets it swivel slightly then it'll annoy me!

It's a brick wall yes. How do I check that the VESA ratings match?

i have this same one been using it for a while now and I wouldn't buy any other.

i also got a smaller version for a smaller tv too. same make

Yeah I'm sure I bought on your recommendation!

Rigidly as in it doesn't wobble? Yeah doesn't wobble at all. I haven't jumped on it as I weigh 100+kg but I did give it a good pull and it isn't going anywhere!

The Vesa ratings are 400x400on a ks7000, check the bracket matches.

Oh you'll want m8 by 50mm or 45mm bolts btw (45mm bolts are fine or 50 with washers)

The mount is solid. It will hold the tv in place so long as you install it correctly.

TV exactly level? Well the mount is designed to move in every direction including swiveling. So you would need to use a spirit level then never move the screen or use a spirit level every time you moved the screen to ensure it's perfectly level. it won't move on it's own as you have screws in place to secure it tightly. so long as those are tightened it won't move on it's own accord only when you move it around.

as for vesa ratings that mount is designed to be compatible with pretty much any tv you can think of. I wouldn't worry too much. It's a universal vesa mount.

Thanks for the pics. The bracket looks pretty beefy, I prefer the look of the slimline fixed ones I've seen I think to be honest.

How do you find the TV though? Is yours the 55" or 65"? How many cables do you need to fit in the trunking you've fitted to the wall, the TV comes with a junction box I think so perhaps only power and the junction connector?

fixed mounts IMO are rubbish. the beauty of mounting them to a cantilever mount is being able to move the tv to any position you fancy. you don't know what your missing out on until you have tried it for yourself. it's also pretty slimline you wouldn't notice anyway as the tv covers the mount entirely.

i have a 50" panasonic plasma on mine.

Yeah could just pull it back to not see it. I'd rather it beefy just so I'm confident in the TV not breaking off the arm! Must be the engineer in me wanting it over designed..

Yes it's just the power and connect box cable (could use thinner trunking if I was bothered.)

If I recall correctly however, the lan network cable is also in the back of the TV rather than the connect box (I just use wifi)

Yeah I'm very impressed with the TV, it's the 55", I wanted the 65" but it was like £600 price increase. Use it for gaming and netflix/amazon. Not even seen a 4k blu ray on it yet, but even 1080p sources look better than my previous 42" 2014 sony (w705)

Sorry to dig this up but want to mount the same TV but will be to a plasterboard newish build home. Any tips appreciated, never tried it!
Don't both with anything other than Grip-It fixings. (Fixings)

I have these holding a tv bracket (Bracket) and my 50" Panasonic Plasma (weighty tv!) to my wall (plasterboard).

They're easy to install in minutes and that tv/bracket is not going anywhere!

Edit: @kinger8938 happy to provide pics if needed.

Those fixings look ideal! I'll mess it up somehow! I guess I should equip a stud finder too just to be sure.

And wow, wall brackets got cheap^ I worked at Currys in my teens, and I remember them being in the 100's but that was like 10 years ago

If you knock on the wall you'll get a pretty good idea of whether you're near a stud or not... worth considering. Not foolproof but if you can find one for certain with sound you can normally take a stab at where the next will be.

I have a limited and spotty history with this stuff :D but I'll try that first!

Collecting a lower tv unit on gumtree this evening and the plan is to then mount this above that :)

* what do people do with cables when wall mounting? I guess it's just the power lead and main cable that goes to a separate HDMI box that everything else plugs in to.

A few options.. if you're already using the holesaw you get with the fittings you can put 2 seperate holes above each other one behind the TV and one behind the unit then guide the wires through there to hide them.

Or what I did in the kitchen which wasn't crazy expensive was having a plug socket placed behind the TV which hides it all (I use multiroom or netflix so no need for antennas).

Or I guess your last option is trunking.

Bear in mind most people, myself included tend to mount things too high. You could have it just floating above your unit which I've done with the TV I'm using as a monitor, then as long as the cables are bunched together and there's only a 3" gap you can barely see them anyway.
