Which 7?

You'll be wasting RAM for one but in light of the fact you can't get it to boot, you may not have another option.

1, will installing the 32 give me a nice fresh clean HDD to work on? or is it just a little wash over with a sponge?
2, can i install the 64 over the 32 once the 32 is up and running?

1) I think the setup will ask if you want to repartition, but I'm not sure from an upgrade.
2) Yes but it will mean a complete wipe and start again.

What you think burnsy?

hang on so let me get this right!!

if i install the 32bit in windows i can then install the 64 after (with wipe out) and this 64 can be done in windows ( as i cant do it from boot up)?

will it not give me error that i get now trying to install 64 in windows "cannot install 64 with win32XP.

thanks burnsy again

You must boot from the 64bit DVD, there is no other way. Do you have a phone where you can record video? It'd be useful to see exactly what you're doing.

Also, have you tried resetting the bios and then trying to get into the BIOS setup with the PS/2 keyboard?

oh yeah.. sorry.

I meant mine :D wrote it out and saw it wasnt at all useful after burnsy had posted, so i edited it out :p

Anyway, +1 for the video and bios reset. If we can see what's going on, might help us a lot in helping you :)

Does the drive spin up as it attempts to boot? Are you prompted to press any key to boot from CD/DVD? Are you indeed pressing any key when that happens?

It doesn't matter, your motherboard just has to support 64bit CPUs, which obviously it does because that's what you're using.

I can't find the ANY key anywhere on my keyboard!!!
