Which 7800????

so is the gtx worth the extra over the gt or the 1800xl
yes.
The xl is matched with the gt and the gtx is matched near enought with the x1800xt (at higher res the x1800xt dominates)

Hi there

Yes OcUK 7800 GTX is a bargain, should be one of the cheapest on the web. :D

What?!?! When did that price of that GTX go down that much? That Gainward GT is only £10 less... I'd get that GTX. :p

OcUK GeForce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-033-OK) £328.94 Including VAT - cheapest GTX available (faster than 7800GT)

PowerColor ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-048-PC) £276.07 Including VAT

the PowerColor ATI Radeon X1800 XT has double the ram, is the faster card, has better IQ & is cheaper. Surely this is a no brainer, get the ATI card.

Sorry to take thread off topic, but have tried 2 Mac G4 with IE 5.1 at work here & both show this erroneous data. Wonder why? Anyone on another Mac?

EDTIED ** Update i have now tried 2x G4 Macs with IE & 1x G3 Mac with IE & all have the same problem showing the above incorrect pricing!
Have also tried a P4 PC with IE & it shows the correct pricing.
I think there may be a problem with OcUK website?

Would be nice if anyone with a Mac (G3 / G4) with IE could confirm this.

The GTX has slowly slipped down in price quietly and is now good value again, the GT is still excelent value as the X1800XT.

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO)
Price: £199.95 (£234.94 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Very nicely priced & just in.

(this price is correct this time )

lol at £235 the X1800XT is a steal mate, BUY BUY BUY :D

Suman

That is the 256MB X1800Xt so if the x1800xt 512 only just beat the gtx the 256 edition will be a bit slower

look the better card out the x1800xt 512mb and the 7800gtx 256mb is the xt but that is over your budget and only becomes better if you have a monitor bigger than 19", so its up to u but if you want a card under £300 quid like you said then the gtx is the beter option

ps. dont get worried about your decision as they are both very good cards and you wont be disappointed with whatever you buy

With pricing...

The X1800XT is still the better buy.

You would just be paying £50 more for no real benefit.

Gotta say I have to agree. The XT is much the faster card - the only difference between that and the 512MB XT is the RAM otherwise there is no difference whatsoever and the XT 512MB does convincingly beat the GTX 256MB. One poster previously mentioned that the XT only just beat the GTX and this is wrong, it soundly beat it. At high res, yes, this is attributable to the RAM but at low res, the 256MB version is actually faster than the 512MB due to the added latency of having more RAM.
