Which Console, Argh!

Dude, where have you read that? On the back of a penguin biscuit? Have you tried the PS3 and 360, or are you just following the rest of the people that slate the PS3? Ive tried Virtua Tennis 3, COD3 and will be trying Rainbow 6: Vegas on Friday. COD3 ran like a dog on the 360, its just slowed down so badly i traded the 360 version in for the PS3 version. So far all of the so called 'ports' ive played have ran better on the PS3. As for looks, they lok pretty much identical to me, Ive yet to try Vegas, but Virtua Tennis looks loads better on the PS3 than the 360, and COD3 is pretty much the same.

How did ya know? :p

I'll let these comparrison videos speak for me

Notice the better lighting on the 360 and the slightly blurry, lower res textures on the PS3

Rainbow six:Vegas

Call Of Duty: 3

Notice how washed out it is on the PS3, the far away buildings are less blurred on the 360

Virtua tennis was originaly made on the PS3, then ported to the 360 ;)

Like you i have a 360 and a ps3.
The ps3 from a build quality is the rolls royce of consoles.
The 360 is turning out like the ps2 the peoples console loads of games and lots of second hand games now at cheap prices.
My 360 is used every day and at the moment the ps3 is hardly ever switched on.
I have had more fun playing games online with the 360 than i have ever had with any console.

I would agree with everything there. Spot on.

These comparison videos always confuse me, As i've been playing a PS3 since the Jap release, and i've never noticed a single problem with the picture.

Same with the 360, Fantastic picture.

Both consoles output through a Sony Bravia BTW

Best looking game to date on either console is still GOW though.

If I were to go out and buy one of the consoles at the moment, It would be a PS3.

I know there arent as many games out there for the PS3 as there are for the Xbox 360, But there is a 12 month head start to consider.

The games that are out for the PS3 at the moment are great! And the console as said, is one you can buy, and not have to worry about any hardware problems.

I want both consoles, But i'm not getting a 360 just yet, I want a quality product and i do not wish to keep relying on a warranty. My friend has replaced 2, He's on his 3rd. He's happy to just keep replacing it when it dies.
And if you are happy with maybe having to do that then fine.

I watched the Bluray edition of Harry Potter the other day, and I found it to be fantastic.

Anyways, I see it like this:

You can buy a console and rely the warranty. Go for the 360.

Buy a console and rely on the build quality. Go for the PS3.

If you need a massive catalogue of games RIGHT NOW then go for the 360.

If you can make do with a good few games, and a steady flow of releases then get a PS3.

Is it confirmed that MGS4 is out soon?

I agree with you, the colours on my TV are better than the 360. They do not look washed out like that at all!

i reckon those comparisons where done before the full rgb support was added. or after, with full rbg switched off. there is no way in hell my ps3 looks like that on my tv:)

Have to agree myself, played a few games including F1/FNR3/Tony Hawks and didnt see any struggles with black or lighting conditions. Oh, and I was watching Johnny Bravo last night :D

If you prefer role-playing games and Adventure games then the PS3 is probably your best bet(MGS4, Heavenly Sword, GT5, Lair, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy XIII)

So out of the PS3's good RPG and adventure games you named a shooter and a racing game

I think the 360 is amazing for rpg's, Oblivion will keep you going for about a year, especially with the amazing shivering isles expansion, Mass Effect is looking outstanding, as is Bioshock, then theres Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey on the horizon.

I honestly can't see a reason to get a PS3 at the moment unless you absolutely have to have a blu-ray player. It just can't compete on range of titles or number of exclusives with 360 and even the release schedule doesn't blow me away. Until the big hitting exclusives (which are dwindling by the day) start coming in, its just not worth it. I'll most likely get one when (and if) blu-ray becomes viable for me (i.e. the HD standard) and theres a price cut to under £300, and when theres at least 5 titles i want on the console that aren't available on 360 or PC.

Or if they make a new wipeout, id love that :D

And to all these people who are saying just wait until your 360 fails, ignore them. Sure there is a very good chance you will get a faulty one, but not all ones are. I've had mine since launch day with no problems, standing vertically on carpet and regularly on for the whole day.

Or then again...Dont ignore them ;)

:p

You said it yourself, theres a very good chance it'll fail.

well yeah but its more likely you'll get one that doesn't than does, some of the posts so far have made it sound like its a 90% failure rate and you need to get a new one every month or so

Wait... COD3 is laggy on 360 too? I thought it was just a bad port to PS3. I hate playing that game because of the lag and the long load time (they load while playing an FMV, without providing a skip button to start when its finished loading)

I never noticed anything bad with Call of Duty 3 on the Xbox360 I'm afraid... then again, I never thought much of it in the first place.

CoD2 was a masterpiece, CoD3 on the other hand was turd.

well i wouldn't quite go as far as either of those extremes but CoD 2 was definitely better, but in no way perfect. CoD3 was a moneymaker like the GTA "stories" games while they prepared for the real sequel.

for me the clincher is when Elite versions of x360 come out and the ps3 then comes down in price. (£300 maybe)

when it does that i'll go for that. Both will have good games but i have a HDTV so it would be nice to view bluray HD films on it. :)

Ok maybe calling CoD3 turd was a bit much, it's not *That* bad, however I really thought CoD2 was fantastic, one of the best FPS I've ever played.

Oh yeah, i think people underestimated the 360 launch, i still Play CoD 2, PGR 3 and Condemned to this day. The only thing CoD 2 needed was co-op and it would have been a 9/10 game for me, as it is its slightly below that.
